P1 had a fantastic time at Our Dynamic Earth today. Our first activity was a trip to the moon! After sorting all of the things we would need to take with us we did a count down until it was time to blast off! When we got to the moon we bounced around and then got to touch real moon rocks that were millions of years old!
Next we went to the sun (but not too close!). We looked at how the Earth orbits the sun while the moon orbits the earth. We had three very special astronauts to help show us how this worked.
After lunch we went on a time machine that took us back to the beginning of time!!!!! We saw the solar system being formed and then went to a volcano and through an ice age! We had great fun looking at life on Earth developing as we travelled through time.
Finally we were back in our time and visited different regions of the Earth (we even got to fly on a shuttle!). One of our favourite places was the arctic zone (it was lovely and cool on a hot day like today!)
The bus journey back to school was full of excited chatting after our amazing travelling through time and space!
P6B designed toys of the future. They pitched their ideas to Jamie Brown, from Psyber-Tech 3D Printing, who will now create the winning design. The children showed great persuasive techniques. Jamie will now create Laura’s Monkeyling using his 3D printer. We are very excited to see the finished product.
As we are learning about different life cycles in the nursery we visited the Lanthorn Pond to see the new life there. We first walked around the larger pond at the woods and managed to see mummy duck swimming with her ducklings.
We then visited the smaller pond and visited the swan and their cygnets.
P6 had a great afternoon learning about 3D printing with Jamie Brown. Jamie owns Psyber-Tech 3d Printing. P6 are learning about businesses who design and make products and Jamie shared different products that he had designed and created using a 3D printer. He shared lots of information about his job including the different skills that he needs. We are very thankful to Jamie for coming into school and for the generous gifts he gave us.
There was a lot of excitement in the nursery this afternoon as we received a parcel addressed to the nursery saying “Urgent, Open Immediately”. When we opened it with the children they were happy to see 5 little caterpillars in 2 different tubs.
We will be watching their progress over the next few weeks and will keep you up to date of your little friends on here.
