A Busy Week

Primary 5 have been learning about the Christian creation story.  We have been drawing pictures to show how God created the world.

We have also move on with our topic.  We have discovered that Mary queen of Scots had to leave Scotland and go to France .  We wrote letters to Mary’s mum from France.

We are very excited about our first golf lesson.  Lewis really liked learning golf.  It made Glenn feel good.  Rachel was pretty good at the game to hit the target, Ryan T found this a difficult game although he was ok at it!  Ryan M felt he did better that he thought he would.  Some of the class didn’t feel confident at the start of the lesson but now that they have been taught how to swing the club they are feeling more confident about the next lesson.

Electrical Madness!

In Science this week we tried to make a buzzer buzz, it was extremely noisy.  Katie D

We were trying to make a circuit, it was tricky.  Kai

Jamie found it quite difficult to find things in the class that would complete a circuit and light a lamp.

We also had to use a switch to turn a lamp on and off.  This was especially hard because my group didn’t connect the switch to the wires correctly at first!  Stephanie

During team time this week the Rights Respecting group and the Pupil Council were organising the ‘Day for Change’ to raise money for poorer countries.  Expect more information about this soon.

Happy New Year

Everyone in P5B had a great holiday and we hope that you did too.

It has been a very good start to the new term.  This week we have been doing some electricity experiments.  We had to make a lamp light using a battery, crocodile clips and a lamp.  We discovered that we had to make a circuit.

We have also started our new topic, Mary queen of Scots, finding out that she was the daughter of King James V of Scotland and that she was born close to here at Linlithgow Palace in December 1542, over 450 years ago!

We are all looking forward to finding out more.

Christmas Craft Calamity

In the last couple of weeks we have been learning about Divali and Hanukkah.

Emma enjoyed making her rangoli pattern very colourful.  Rebecca really liked acting out the story of Rama and Sita in drama.

Robbie enjoyed making a Jewish candle holder and putting lots of information about Hanukkah on the candles.  Ryan liked reading about the traditions of Hanukkah.

This week we have also been working hard to prepare our enterprise crafts with P5A.  Kai enjoyed working in groups with the other class.  We have produced high quality Christmas decorations.

You can purchase our christmas craft items at the Infant Nativity shows and the carol service at the end of term.  You can also order through family members.  A leaflet will be coming home soon!
