P2/3 World Book Day Fun!

P2/3 had great fun yesterday for World Book Day.  It was fantastic to see so many different book characters in the classroom.

At assembly we had chosen a group to perform a drama based on The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig.  They performed confidently and we were very proud of them.

In class we developed our team work skills when we completed the World Book Day Quiz.  Mrs Thomson was impressed with our knowledge of different books and we found some new books that we would like to read.  We assessed our team working skills at the end and decided that we still need to work on this.  We hope to develop our skills further over the next few weeks.

We created book covers for our favourite books after reading Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book and enjoyed it when P7 came to visit and read with us.  All this and having to be prepared for the reading alarms that kept sounding during the day kept us busy!

World book day

Well done to all of the P2 pupils who dressed up for World Book Day. You all looked amazing!

Congratulations to our stars who performed a short drama sketch at the school assembly to show the story of ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’.  You all showed fantastic confidence and were proud to be on stage.

It was lovely to have P6 join us for some buddy reading. P2 enjoyed reading to their buddies and having some trickier stories read to them.

For science this week, we tested materials to find out which materials are waterproof. Each group showed excellent team working skills and had fantastic discussions around whether some of the materials really were waterproof or not.

After a week of trying really hard to earn lots of Goblet of Good Manners post-its, P2 won the Goblet of Good Manners trophy today!

It can help you to make a change for the better either at home or at school.

Being able to give your opinion as a child is good practise and will help you to be able to make important decisions as an adult e.g. voting

Wonderful World Book Day in P1/2

Another fun filled week in P1/2.  In maths this week we have been working on the number stories of 6 and 7 and have been using cubes and counters to help us to work out the missing numbers in sums.

We received a letter from Sir Helpalot who has asked us to build him a strong castle.  After discussion in the class, P1/2 came up with the idea of building castle models to help keep him safe.  He also left us a clue and after a while we managed to work out that he wanted us to read Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  We read the story and had lots of fun in the structured play area around the theme.

We had super fun on world book day and enjoyed dressing up as our favourite book characters as well as talking about why we like bedtime stories, voting on our favourite fairytale and reading books in the library.  We also had an extra special treat when P5/6 came down to read to us.  It was so much fun!

Super Book Day Costumes !!!

This week in Primary One, we have been learning how to find missing number in number stories to 7. We also have been learning how to use tally marks to create barcharts. We found out that our favourite fairy tale was Cinderella!

On Thursday, it was World Book Day and we all dresses up as a book character. Miss Rodford was impressed with all our costumes!!

In the afternoon, we thought about why bedtime stories were special!

I like bed time stories becuse they make me sleepy!

I like bedtime stories because they make me smile!

We also got another letter from the Friendly Dragon, who asked for our help to build a new castle. On Wednesday, we got into groups and designed a castle which we will attempt to build next week!

Well done Primary One! Super Work!
