Cool creatures

Caitlin, Dylan, and Aiden joined their P6 classes this week to take part in Cool Creatures this week. They were all very brave and enjoyed touching the different animals.

Dylan: This week we played Castles in P.E. We had to knock down the castles. There’s two teams, the red team and the blue team. My team won. I knocked down 2 castles. P.E has been fantastic this week!!! J

Mr Jeffries and Miss Robertson were very pleased with the whole classes effort and behaviour in PE this week.

Joe: On Wednesday at choose time, I chose Tellytubby land. We were playing hiding tig. It was fun!

Cary: I am looking forward to the Food for All topic. I hope we get to taste some food.

Adam: I went to tellytubby land. We played at hidey tig. It’s like hide and seek but when you see somebody you have to tig them and when they are trying to tig you it’s rush hour, which means it turns in to normal tig.

Aiden; I enjoyd P.E because we got lots of energy.

It was Miss Robertson’s birthday on Monday and we all had some cake and sang Happy Birthday to her. It was nice to celebrate together. Adam washed all the dishes for Miss Robertson as a special treat as it was her turn to do them. The adults thought that was very kind.

Super swimmers in Class M

There was much excitement this week as it was our first week back at swimming and we were all looking forward to.

Joe – I enjoyed swimming as it was the first one after the summer holidays. We were doing star jumps.

Dylan – I enjoyed swimming in the big pool. I tried to swim on the top of the water, using front crawl moves, this is faster.

Caitlin – I enjoyed swimming yesterday because I did very well. Mrs Hay was in on Wednesday and I enjoyed working with her. It was dress down day today and I liked it.

Cary – I have been working very hard on constructing a Lego Dacta model. It is a crane. It can lift a heavy pencil case and I am trying to find other things it can lift too.

Mrs Mclean – I have been very impressed with Cary’s concentration and perseverance with the task.

Next week some of us are looking forward to a visit from Cool Creatures with our P6 integration classes.

Class M

Description of our week: This week we have had a very busy week! We will tell you all about it! Here’s a list of things we done this week. Out and About, Silver circles, check timetables, p6’s and p7’s had a child line visitor, P.E, choose, group work, expressive arts, writing and much more!

Dylan: “I liked choose this week because you get to choose off the choose board.”

Aiden: “I enjoyed the Wii this week because there was a new game called Super Mario Bros Wii.”

Caitlin: “I enjoyed P.E because we played castles and it’s a fun game. I also enjoyed the library because I got a Lego friends book to read in class M.”

Adam: “I liked the library because I got a Lego Star Wars book and I liked choose because we had the Wii.”

Cary: “It was alright castles was ok. The rest of the week was fun”

Joe: “I got a Lego Movie book at he library”

Welcome back to Class M!

This is our first week back at school after 7 weeks holidays!!

We all had so much fun during the holidays. Here is how we were feeling about coming back:

Dylan “It didn’t feel that good coming back to school because I have to do a lot of work”

Joe “I didn’t miss school over the holidays. I was too busy having fun and playing outside with my shorts.”

Adam “I was feeling fine about coming back to school.”

Cary “I was really, really looking forward to coming back to school. Sometimes spending time with family can be too much! ”

Caitlin “I was feeling sad about coming back to school, because I have to do a lot of work and I was enjoying my holiday away.”

Aiden “I had so much fun playing with my friends in the holidays I didn’t want to come back to school.”

Miss Robertson “I was looking forward to coming back to school and seeing all the boys and girls.”

Mrs McLean “I was so happy to see everyone when we came back to school. I enjoyed my summer holidays, but wish the weather had been a bit nicer.”

In class M this week we played with the sticky goo at activity table. Joe “Aiden was putting the goo all over my hands.” “It was very very sticky and it was stuck to my hands.” Said Caitlin. “The goo was messy” Said Adam.

On Thursday we had P.E. Caitlin thinks it was fun. We played tig at the end of P.E but at the start Mr Jeffries explained the rules of the gym. We also played “do this, do that” which helped us practice out listening skills. “I am looking forward to doing do this do that again and doing obstacle courses in P.E” Adam. “P.E was okay this week, I enjoyed being the leader and making people do the wrong thing!”

Class M’s Week!

This week class M have been busy enjoying some time in their new classes. Some of the children enjoyed a visit to the five sister’s zoo!

Here are their comments on this week!

 

Jayden – My favourite thing this week, visiting the zoo. I saw rabbits, monkeys and meerkats. I stayed in the cool, as it was hot and roasting. my favourite thing was looking at the animals and touching. I liked the swing park, it was  fun.

Gabriel – Mrs Laing gave me good news, I went to the primary 1, 2 and 3 playground for longer playtime. At swimming, I made big splashes and said uh oh!

Joe – I was in primary 4, 5 and 6 playground for longer playtime. I was playing with Geordie, at Rat Battle, it is a shouting game. I played with Cameron with the giant ball, we threw, caught and punched the ball. It was good fun.

Dylan – My favourite day was the zoo. I liked the lemurs because they climb up trees. The rat was white. I held it to my body. It was soft.

Lewis – On Thursday I went to the zoo, the zoo is fun. I looked at the animals and played in the park. I touched a rat, it felt soft.

Jake – I went to the zoo and played in the park. I pretended I was captain Hook. I made a new friend. We had a picnic.

Yolie – Yesterday I went to the zoo. I liked the zoo. We went on a bus trip.

Fantastic Farm Food!

This week we have been learning about what foods come from farms.  We had a farm shop and a farm cafe in sensory room.  We discovered lots of different foods come from farms.  At our farm cafe we tasted lots of food.  We thought they were delicious.

“We had lots of food to eat.  The farmer grew wheat.  Cakes and rolls and bread have flour from wheat in them.  Farmers grew strawberries for our jam” Jayden

“We had milk, cheese and yoghurts.  They come from cows.  Yoghurts and cheese are made of milk.” Gabriel

“We were in the farm cafe and the farm shop.  I tasted a roll and jam and milk.  Ham is from pigs.  Milk is from inside cows.  Rolls are from wheat that farmers grow” Joe

Tractor visits Class M

This week we were all very excited that a real farmer, called Jamie, brought his tractor in to the playground for us to look at. We were amazed at how big it was. The tyres were taller than Mrs McLean! We enjoyed asking Jamie questions about the tractor and finding out what it does on the farm. On Tuesday we learned how to write thank you letters as it was very kind of Jamie to come in to school.

Gabriel – The boy was talking about tractors. He said there was bailers. The bailer puts hay down on the grass.

David – Tractors have big wheels. I’m writing a letter. The letter said thank you.

Joe – We made a tractor with boxes. We painted them. Jamie brought his tractor. It has an engine to work.

Jayden – My tractor was colourful. Tractors have two big wheels at the back and two small wheels at the front.

Lewis – Jamie the farmer came to school with his big green tractor. The tractor has big wheels. I wrote a thank you letter to Jamie.

Yolie – Thank you letter for Jamie, for bringing his tractor.

Dylan – We had to put our address, date, who you were sending it to and your name so they know who the letter came from. It was a thank you letter to Jamie for bringing in his tractor.

Jake – Jamie had a tractor. It was green.

Class M on the farm

This week we have continued our farm topic by learning about Venn diagrams. We used hula hoops to separate and sort items in to countryside, town or both. We were all very good at it. Then we designed and constructed our own tractors from recycled materials and watched a tractor carrying out some jobs on the farm.

 

Here are our own thoughts about what we have been learning in topic:

Gabriel – I learned about Venn diagrams with Mrs McLean. Me and Lewis sorted which place things go. The countryside, town or both.

Jayden – We are learning about farm animals. About cows, chickens and sheep.

David – I made a tractor with Miss Waddell.

Joe – Were were building tractors on Tuesday with junk.

Lewis – We’re doing tractors. They are on the farm. They drive up the fields.

Dylan – This week I helped Jake to do symmetry. We used shapes to make patterns.

Down on the farm with Class M

This week we started our new topic Farming. We tried to think about all the things we know about farms already and what we would like to learn.

Our activity corner has been turned in to a farm shop, and we painted a huge cardbard box to make a stable for some of the animals. We all had fun climbng inside the box and sitting on the straw!

Jayden – Milk comes from cows. Our new topic is about the farm.

Joe – We were tasting but we couldn’t see it because our eyes were covered. We were guessing which animal it came from.

Gabriel – I tried to eat my food without looking. We tasted some sausages.

In the sensory room we learned that some food comes from animals and we had a taste of some different things such as sausages.

We also played a game to match farm animals to their babies, and tried to learn the baby names. Do you know what a baby goat is called?

Class M visit the cafe

This week we went to the cafe as part of our Out and About programme. Before we     went we discussed how to be safe when out in the community. The adults were pleased with our behaviour.

There were lots of nice treats for us to choose from in the cafe, and we all got to order our snack and pay for it at the end.

Here is what we said about our trip:

Lewis – We went to the cafe. I was eating chocolate cake wih rice krispies and a glass of milk. I was giving the lady the money to pay for my food.

Yolie – Chocolate cake at the cafe. I liked juice in the cafe.

Dylan – I had rice krispie cake. It was good. I ate it all up! I paid for my cake and juice all by myself.

Jake – Cafe, yummy chips! It’s delicious.

Joe – I ate a cake with the jam in the middle at the café. It was great.

Jayden – I love café Yum Yum and I loved the coconut cake.

Our other highlight of the week was fun week at swimming. We got to play with the big floats. The adults were singing jelly on a plate and then tipping us off the floats!

Gabriel – I was swimming on the floats with my goggles on.

David – I was going under the water with my goggles at swimming.

Class M Blog

Lewis – We were making a mummified apple. We had to make a face like a Mummy and roll it in salt. It was good fun.

 

Yolie – Apple, Egypt, make a Mummy. I making eyes, a nose and mouth.

 

Dylan – I’ve just seen the solar eclipse in the front playground. It was cloudy but I saw it. The next time there is one is 2090. It was dark outside.

 

Joe – We have been doing some different learning this week. We were writing letters in the shaving foam. It was lots of fun and made a mess of the table.

 

Gabriel – On Thursday I did swimming learning and even kicked my legs up to the ceiling. I went on my back and my head was facing the ceiling.

 

David – I went under the water with my goggles on in the little pool.

Class M Out and About

This week we were very excited to go on our first Out and About for a while. We went to the library to see if we could find some Egyptian books for our topic. We all agreed it was a fun outing.

Joe – I was lookign at the Jurassic Park book in the library.

Gabriel – I was reading my book in the library.

Dylan – The library was very good.

Lewis – We have been learning about library books. I take a book home and bring it back when I have read it.

In maths we were learning about pyramids. We made a pyramid from a net.

Yolie – I was making a pyramid. I put sand on it.

David – Sprinkling sand on to the pyramid.

Jayden – I made pyramid and put some Egyptian writing on it.

Class M

I went to Armadale school on Monday. I have been learning about Ancient Egypt the same as in Balbardie. – Joe

We pretended to be Egyptian Mummies in the sensory room. We wrapped each other up in toilet roll. It was fun. – Jayden

I have been doing maths and PE in Primary 1 and it was Yellow Friday. – Gabriel

We have a new boy in Class M his name is Dylan.- David

I got wrapped up in toilet roll. Jake wrapped me up. I couldn’t see but I liked getting wrapped up. – Lewis

I was being a Mummy, Jaypden put paper over me. I liked being a Mummy. – Yolie

I moved class. I went to PE with Class M. – Dylan

I like Lewis. I am making him a Mummy. It was fun. – Jake

Our new name

This week we changed our name from Class 1 to Class M. The pupils are very good at remembering our new name, but the adults need some reminding!

 

We were very proud of our assembly that we performed last week and enjoyed all the lovely comments we got afterwards. The theme was ‘At the Movies’ and our class focussed on Frozen.

Lewis – I liked the Olaf dance.

Mrs McLean – I was so proud of everyone for learning their lines and saying them clearly.

Gabriel – It was funny when we wiggled our bottoms in the dance!

Jayden – My Dad and brother came to watch me.

Yolie – I can dance like Queen Elsa. She has blonde hair.

David – My favourite character is Elsa.

Joe – Everyone clapped after our dance.

Jake – I can sing Frozen songs.

Afterwards we got to have hotdogs and popcorn with our visitors and we could have our photos taken in the photo booth.

We hope all the friends, family and classes enjoyed watching it.

Class 1’s week

In class this week we have been working very hard to practise our assembly. There are lots of things for us to practise, like speaking clearly and loudly, looking at the audience and remembering our words. We are very excited to perform it next Friday at 9.30am and look forward to seeing some of our parents and relatives there.

Gabriel – I will dress up like a snowman. I brought a costume from home.

Jayden – The Olaf dance is fun.

David – I like Elsa.

 

We have also been busy creating some Egyptian art work for our up coming Art Exhibition. You will find out more details about this next week. We are trying out some different activities based around patterns and shapes and will choose our best piece for the exhibition.

Lewis – I am proud of my necklace patterns.

Joe – I used yellow, blue and purple for my pattern.

Yolie – Necklace is so pretty.

Class 1 visits Egypt

On Monday we found a mystery bag in Class 1. We investigated what was inside it. We discovered that it was full of things to do with Egypt. This is going to be our new topic. We are very excited to find out lots of new facts about Egypt.

Lewis – I was trying to be an Egyptian by wearing a collar. It was good fun.

Jake pulled lots of things out the bag. He liked the Egyprtian man. He enjoyed dressing him in his desert clothes.

Joe – I was learning about Egypt with Gabriel.

David – I am playing with the Egyptian man.

Gabriel – I was being a sphinx and I saw an Egyptian mummy.

In the sensory room we imagined that we were flying off on holiday to Egypt.

Yolie – Sunshine! I was going on holiday with my pink and white suitcase.

On Thursday Mrs McClafferty from P5m to class to visit us. She did money work with some of us.

Jayden – Mrs McClafferty came to class to teach us maths. We counted up the coins.

 

Happy New Year from Class 1

Class 1
would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! We were all happy to come back to
school and are looking forward to setting ourselves new targets.

We have had
a busy start to the term. Miss Waddell did some sensory circuits with us.

Yolie – I’m sitting
on the big yellow ball. Bouncing up and down on the ball. Through the tunnel
with Miss Waddell.

Gabriel – I
loved going into the tunnel. The big
yellow ball was fun.

We have been
trying really hard to learn our Burn’s poem and are looking forward to reciting
them in class on Monday.

Lewis – I
liked painting the wee rid motor. I am good at saying the poem.

David – I
painted a red car, I went swimming with class 2 and 3.

Jayden – I
was learning the poem The Wee Rid Car. I love learning with Mrs McLean.

It was Joe’s
birthday this week so we had a party in class with some snacks, music and
games.

Joe – We had
a party in class 1 for my birthday. It was fun. Dawn said I have been good in
swimming. I was swimming on my back.

Class 1 blog

It was time for our Christmas lunch this week. We all ate together in the snug. It was decorated with Christmas things.

Yolie – I like Christmas lunch.

Jake – I got a hat in the cracker. A red one.

Joe – At Christmas lunch I had a packed lunch. We ate in the snug. I pulled a cracker by myself, the hat in it was light blue.

Some of Class 1 went to the pantomime this week. We had to walk to the theatre in the snow. Here are some of the things we enjoyed.

Lewis – In the panto someone said “Get back here right now!” and they were running in a circle. It was funny.

Jayden –In the pantomime the princess gave us a recipe. She was wearing an orange dress. The pirate took the treasure chest and the he brought it back. It was a funny panto.

Joe – I went to the panto. I saw Robinson Crusoe. The man pulled his hair off!

Gabriel – I saw the bad pirates and a guy with a flag in the pantomime. I loved it. The eyes were glowing yellow.

There was great excitement when it snowed on Thursday! Some of us went outside when the snow was falling to see what it felt like.

David – I fell over in the snow. I knocked over Yolie’s mountain. I like the snowman. He was cold.

Jake – The snow melted. It’s slippery. I threw a snowball.

Yolie – I like to lie down in the snow and be Frozen. Anna and Elsa like snow

Other highlights of our week were:

Lewis – I had fun in the rainbow room with Miss Waddell and Yolie. We played in a little hole and we got squashed.

Jayden – I was making crispie cakes and I ate it at home. We made it in the snug. We put chocolate in and crispies in and we wait for the chocolate to melt.

Class 1 in the Christmas spirit!

This week we put up a Christmas tree in class. Everyone was
very excited. We are looking forward to all the nice Christmas activities over
the next few weeks.

Jake – I liked decorating the tree. The gold bauble was
beautiful.

Lewis – I have a Christmas tree in my house. There’s lots of
decorations and toys. It has a heart at the top.  The tree in school has a star at the top.

Yolie – Christmas trees. A red bauble on it.

Gabriel – I put on the Christmas baubles on the tree.

 

In PE we had a turn on the Wii.

Lewis – This week is good. Tigger likes to say Jiggly Bells.
I’m dancing and I was trying to have a practise for PE. Mr Jeffries told me to
dance. I danced with David and Yolie.

Jayden – In PE I played the animals CD with Mr Jeffries in
the snug. He played funky monkey. I’m really happy because Mr Jeffries brought
the Wii and we had a dance.

David – Dancing. I’m dancing to Kids in America. Golden
brown. 99 red balloons. Dancing with Mr Jeffries. Look at me doing this.

Gabriel – I loved dancing to the music on the Wii. I was
doing the nativity and then I can have Wii at Golden Time.

 

Joe is enjoying our class topic so much. This week he
invented a character name for himself.

Joe – I like Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I was
writing Joe Bloop. It is my chocolate name. I watched the DVD with Johnny Depp.

Class 1 Blog

This week in the sensory room it was set up like a dentist.

Joe – I was pretending to be a dentist. I had a drink of water. It is a good drink for your teeth.

Jayden – Playing games at the dentist in sensory room. I was reading book in the waiting area.

In topic we asked each other “What is your favourite sweet?”. We collected all the results and will display them next week in a bar chart.

Gabriel – My favourite sweet is fudge.

David – We choosing our favourite sweets. In the sweet shop as a friend “what’s your favourite sweet?” I’ve got a white sweet, and a blue one, and a yellow one. My favourite sweet is lollipops.

Gabriel’s favourite activity this week was maths where we learning about volume.

Gabriel – I was pouring the yellow water in maths because we were measuring. I didn’t spill the water.

Finally we have been getting ready for the Christmas Fayre by making toys to sell. We hope you come along and enjoy what we have produced.

Yolie – I made a windmill with a snowman on it. It looks like Frozen.

Lewis – My windmill has santa. We made posters. It will cost you 50p.
