This week we focused on animals for our blog posts.

Derri:

This week my blog is about dolphins

1. A group of dolphins is called a school of dolphins.

2. A new born dolphin is called a  calf.

3. Dolphins feed on fish that are in the sea.

4. Dolphins can survive for 25 to 50 years.

5. Dolphins can be from 1.7 to 3.9 metres in length.

Freya:

This week is going to be about tigers 

1 Female tigers are 1 foot less in length than a male.

2 Male tigers weigh 100 lbs less than females.

3 Tiger’s babies are called cubs .

4.Tigers have stripes to camouflage.

5. A type of tiger is a liger . 😮 😎

Paige:

This  weeks blog is about  Sharks.

1.Tiger  Sharks, Blue Sharks, Great White and Leopard Sharks sometimes attack people. 

2.Most sharks live in warm water. 

3.Sharks  eat mostly fish but some  eat turtles  and seals.

4.Sharks can live for up to 35years.

5. Baby sharks are called pups and only go in deep water  when they get bigger.

Karys and Demi-Leigh also worked with Miss Robertson to complete this jigsaw during their choose time!

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Frankenstein we have been learning about famous monsters. We learned that all monsters have at least one of the three following criteria:

The way it looks  

The way it behaves  

How big it is

We created our own monsters and made background stories for them.

Freya: “My monster is called  Ffranckyla 

1. It came from duck inside’s .

2.It was created by pollution by kids.

3.It is a monster because it is ugly 😳

4.it is a mixture between Dracula and Frankenstein.

5. It behaves nicely. “

James: “My monster is called  Mr Overkill.

1. My monster has two heads.

2.My monster kills people.

3.He has no bran.

4. He has six legs.

5. My monster comes from spas.”

Paige: “My monster is called  Storm

1.You wouldn’t want to meet it at night.

 2.It is made from dead body parts.

 3.It comes from Africa.

 4.It has seven arms. 

 5.It has four legs.”

Derri: “My monster is called Jefimy.

1. He is creepy and 8 foot tall.

2. He was born in a cemetery.

3. He is very stinky and he is  made of old people’s body parts.

4. He was born in the cemetery in Polmont.

5. He now lives in Bathgate cemetery. “

Greig: “My monster is called Dr.Rain

1. Dr.Rain is 8 ft tall.

2. Dr.Rain has half a brain.

3. Dr.Rain is made out of old body parts and poo and chemicals.

4. Dr.Rain was made at the Atlantic Ocean.

5. Dr.Rain is poisonous and he smells.”

In the Pod we’ve been learning about how important our choices are and what the consequences of our choices can be. We’ve focused particularly on physical violence and honesty and how which strategies can help us make the right choice.

Jays Dino Facts…Apatosaurus
All facts from this section are accurate as of 2016

1. The Apatosaurus is also well known as the Brontosaurus. Confusion was caused when bones of the giant dinosaur were first discovered back in 1877 by Othniel Charles Marsh. After naming the new dinosaur Apatosaurus he later found a larger set of bones and incorrectly thought they were a new species which he then named Brontosaurus It turns out that the second set of bones were just the adult version of the Apatosaurus.
2. Apatosaurus lived in the Jurassic Period, around 150 million years ago.
3. The name Apatosaurus means deceptive lizard.
4. The Apatosaurus is one of the largest animals to have ever walked on Earth, averaging around 23m in length and a weight of over 23 metric tons.
5. Apatosaurus was represented in the Transformers toy line and animated series as Sludge.

It has been confirmed that all pupils requiring school transport next session will need to apply before 6th May 2016. This includes new pupils as well as pupils already receiving transport in buses and taxis. Please be aware that new bus passes and information will be required for next session so it is essential that applications are submitted prior to the deadline as previous passes will not be accepted.

In order to improve the application process a new feature has been created which allows pupils and parents to complete and submit transport applications online through the council website making it quicker and easier to apply. The form can be found at the following web address:
