The Road Safety Rovers are a group of P1-3 children, P7 leaders and Miss Johnstone. The aim of the Road Safety Rovers is to work together to increase our knowledge of road safety and have fun when doing so! P7 leaders and Miss Johnstone worked together to create a list of road safety topics to cover throughout the year. These included:
- Be safe, Be Seen
- Weather warning! Road safety in Winter
- Helping parents and carers staying street safe
- Crossing Safely
- It’s playtime! – safe places to play near homes and schools
- Your journey to school
- Staying safe during the summer holidays
- Belt up! In car safety
Our Leading and Learning sessions include a variety of different learning activities. Primary 7 leaders have been working with small groups of children at a time undertaking art activities, drama sessions and learning songs. Children have been building routes with construction that include different types of crossings and acting out the safest way of getting to destinations using lego figures/animals. This also showed great problem solving and team work! We have shared many stories (we have particularly enjoyed Ziggy’s adventures and Super Cat!), played interactive games and quizzes and made yummy traffic light biscuits!
Thank you for all your hard work Road Safety Rovers team!
