At Newton Google Classroom is our main platform to support remote learning experiences for our children. Children each have a personal account within the stirlingschools.net secure network which enables them to access the full range of G-Suite Tools to support learning.
The overview below provides detail of the Remote Learning experience we are providing for children during this time. We continually adapt and review practice through consultation with staff, parents and children to develop our offer and respond to the needs of our children.
Class teachers are working hard to provide a range of learning experiences for children throughout the week to help support motivation, engagement and routines. We recognise that learning at home is very different to learning in the classroom and we ask that families do what they can during this period of Remote Learning.
Routine is key to motivation and success. Now more than ever having good routines at home will help keep family functioning well during these difficult times. We recognise that all family circumstances are different and therefore we encourage families to plan ahead together to help maintain focus and adopt a structure that suits you best. Daily learning provided by class teachers includes core learning experiences and activities. The Daily Task Lists provided below provide further supplementary activities that families can utilise to plan a ‘timetable’ for the day if they wish.
Families should ensure that children have plenty of breaks, fresh and exercise throughout the day as well as time to play and relax.
Class teachers are available on Google Classroom throughout the school day and children can ask questions, share learning and engage in live Google Meet sessions to help support their learning. A guide to using Google Meet can be found below. All children should have appropriate permissions through the completed Google Form issued by the school before accessing any live sessions.
Finally, we would like to remind families that we only ask that everyone does the best they can in the current circumstances. At Newton our priority remains focused on Health and Wellbeing of our staff, families and children. We encourage families to support one another and be mindful that not everyone is in the same situation or able to support their children with learning in the same way as others.
