Parent Council

The Parent Council Group currently comprises myself as Chair, Nik Arestis as Vice Chair and parent members, Veronica Duncan, Lorna Gillies, Nic Russian, Graham Simpson, and Jamie Wishart. Parent Council meetings are open to all parents and carers and we welcome anyone who would like to join meetings throughout the year.

Issues we have been involved with over the past few years have included submissions to Stirling Council’s Priority Based Budgeting exercise, dealing specifically with the potential loss of PE and Music specialists and other services affecting school life and assisting with the preparation of a Travel Plan for Newton Primary School. We have also been actively involved with the ongoing improvements to the school grounds.

Our Parent Council strives to represent the parent body in providing feedback to the head/depute head teachers on school wide issues, representing the parent body directly with Stirling Council, supporting the school with relevant projects/initiatives and reporting our activities to parents and carers through minutes of our meetings and an annual joint AGM with the Fundraising Group.

Please be assured that your involvement is valuable to our children and their education environment and has an important supporting role to the wider school body.

I look forward to welcoming you to the meetings in early October. If you wish to contact me directly, please do so either through the school office or by email – newtonparentcouncil@gmail.com

With kind regards

Ann Richardson, Chair, Newton Primary Parent Council
