a variety is\u00a0recommended eg brownies\/scouts\/etc, care home, hospital, nurse, \u00a0 (also\u00a0see Future pathways advice on volunteering)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080\"><strong>Ensure you conduct research \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/strong><\/span>Find documents and professionsal organistions eg &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmc-uk.org\/education\/standards.asp\">General Medical Council<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/public\/futurepathways\/uploads\/sites\/3154\/2015\/08\/NEW-Promoting_excellence_standards_for_medical_education_and_training_0715.pdf_61939165.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Promoting excellence standards for medical education and training<\/a> (previously <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmc-uk.org\/Tomorrow_s_Doctors_1214.pdf_48905759.pdf\">Tomorrow&#8217;s Doctor<\/a>s), news paper\/website.\u00a0 You must show an interest and\u00a0understanding of current\u00a0\u00a0medical issues and developments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Experience<\/strong> &#8211; gain a variety of work experience opportunities eg different hospitals\/wards.\u00a0 Not all work experience has to be medical, you could show how well you interact with people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prepare WELL for the UCAT (previously UKCAT)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; all applicants to Medical School must sit a University Clinical Aptitude Test. \u00a0This is booked and sat prior to UCAS application<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0See \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ukcat.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UKCAT<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0for advice, video clips, etc<\/li>\n<li>follow <strong>@UCATest<\/strong> on twitter as they have sample questions and advice on a regular basis<\/li>\n<li>There are a number of <strong>UCAT<\/strong> <strong>books<\/strong> available with sample questions to practice for this examination. \u00a0(all available via search engines)<\/li>\n<li>there are also a number of <strong>UCAT courses<\/strong> and more online practice tests available. \u00a0These range in price, availability and duration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080\">\u00a0Other opportunities:<\/span><\/h2>\n<h6><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Medic Insight<\/span> &#8211;
