{"id":768,"date":"2018-04-30T12:36:56","date_gmt":"2018-04-30T12:36:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/fintryprimaryandnursery\/?page_id=768"},"modified":"2018-04-30T12:36:56","modified_gmt":"2018-04-30T12:36:56","slug":"parent-council-constitution","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/fintryprimaryandnursery\/parent-council-constitution\/","title":{"rendered":"Parent Council Constitution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Fintry Primary School Parent Council Constitution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fintry Primary School (FPS) has established a Parent Council (PC).\u00a0\u00a0 The purpose of this Constitution is to clearly state:<\/p>\n<p>Aims and objectives<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To promote co-operation, communication and partnership between parents (\u2018parent\u2019 refers to parent and carer) and the school (\u2018school\u2019 includes school and nursery).<\/li>\n<li>To represent and discuss parents\u2019 views and wishes on the education and welfare of pupils.<\/li>\n<li>To build links and involve parents with the wider learning community.<\/li>\n<li>To support the school in its work with pupils and parents.<\/li>\n<li>To communicate PC activities with wider parent forum.<\/li>\n<li>To support the school in building links and involvement with the local community.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Membership and school staff representation<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Membership will be agreed at the AGM.<\/li>\n<li>Any parent of a pupil currently at FPS can volunteer to become a member of the PC.<\/li>\n<li>The membership will be a minimum of 5 parents and a maximum of 12, with a minimum of 1 parent with a child at the nursery. In the event that number of volunteers exceeds 12, selection will be based on equal representation of school year groups.<\/li>\n<li>The Head teacher will attend council meetings, informing parents of school activities, the curriculum and encouraging links with other staff and Stirling Council.<\/li>\n<li>The PC can co-opt members from the community to provide specialist skills or knowledge<\/li>\n<li>The office bearers (Chairperson and Secretary \u2013 and others as required) will be elected at the AGM.<\/li>\n<li>Chairperson\u2019s tenure is restricted to 2 years.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Meetings<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The PC will hold a meeting once per term, although parents or PC members can request an additional meeting or EGM to deal with matters that arise<\/li>\n<li>The AGM, which is open and advertised to all parents will be held in the first term of each school year.<\/li>\n<li>The meetings will be deemed to be quorate if half of the number of total parent members is present.<\/li>\n<li>All meetings will be minuted and published on the school website and school notice-board.<\/li>\n<li>Non members are welcome to attend with prior notification of the Chair.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Changes to the Constitution and Dissolution<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Changes \/ additions must be made at an AGM or EGM called for the purpose<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Finance<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The PC is responsible for the distribution of funds raised by the FPS Parents Fundraising Committee (FRC).<\/li>\n<li>The Head teacher can request funds from the PC for activities to enhance the pupils\u2019 learning experience.<\/li>\n<li>The Office Bearers of the FRC are responsible for releasing the funds.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This constitution was devised using the following resources:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotland.gov.uk\/Resource\/Doc\/194627\/0052294.pdf\">http:\/\/www.scotland.gov.uk\/Resource\/Doc\/194627\/0052294.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sptc.info\/leaflets\/model-constitution-for-parent-councils\/\">http:\/\/www.sptc.info\/leaflets\/model-constitution-for-parent-councils\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fintry Primary School Parent Council Constitution Fintry Primary School (FPS) has established a Parent Council (PC).\u00a0\u00a0 The purpose of this Constitution is to clearly state: Aims and objectives To promote co-operation, communication and partnership between parents (\u2018parent\u2019 refers to parent and carer) and the school (\u2018school\u2019 includes school and nursery).
