We have been working out what ‘n’ stands for. The whole class were also set a new activity that was called 1 Problem, Multiple ways. We had to work out different ways to show how we worked out the answer.

In literacy, we have been building up mind maps to create poems about the Burns Supper. The P7 novel for this term is Percy Jackson and the P7s have been doing literacy circles which means we spilt into groups to do different tasks to help us learn about the story. P5s and P6s have been reading Varjak Paw.

Our topic has been learning about Robert Burns as we have the Burns Supper coming up and we have been preparing our Scottish poems and Burns books. We have also be doing Tam O Shanter to perform at the Burns Supper. The P6s have also been learning The Lament for the Lost Dinner Ticket.

In health and wellbeing, we have been building up our stamina by doing the Daily Mile track to help us at the cross-country competition that takes place in Dunblane.

The cross-country competition was very wet and muddy but we enjoyed it! There were many spectators too, which was nice!

P7’s converting fractions into percentages and finding percentages of amounts. We have learnt how to find any percentage, such as 61% of £150

Literacy – We are focusing on Non fiction reading this term, exploring newspaper articles, websites and videos about Plastic Pollution.  We know that reading for information can take many forms and can identify the features of non fiction information.  We have learnt lots about plastic pollution and are writing up reports about it.

With Ms Nicoll we are writing fantasy stories using the hero we designed ourselves.

Health & Wellbeing

We have been learning about Respect. We identified that people have visible characteristics and characteristics that are not so obvious to others. Accepting that everyone has a different way of looking at things allows us to be more respectful of others opinions.

We have been learning to bowl with the Fintry Bowling club,  We think we are pretty good!

Interdisciplinary

We have been exploring the problem of plastic pollution, which is a Global Goal.  We have focussed on how plastic pollution affects wildlife and have animated an animal to explain their issues.

Curricular

We have been learning Scottish Country dancing ready for our visit to the Peak.  We will be showcasing a dance called The Merry Reapers.  Mrs Paterson had never heard of it before so it took a lot of practise to perfect the steps!  We’ve got there now and its actually quite easy!

Inspiring children to learn and achieve their potential to become responsible citizens of the future
