{"id":4134,"date":"2017-05-11T14:02:27","date_gmt":"2017-05-11T14:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/?p=4134"},"modified":"2017-05-11T14:02:27","modified_gmt":"2017-05-11T14:02:27","slug":"p2j-outdoor-learning-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/2017\/05\/11\/p2j-outdoor-learning-4\/","title":{"rendered":"P2J Outdoor Learning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We went for a walk and learned the names of lots of\u00a0 plants, like dock, clover, dandelion, daisy, hawthorn, rhododendron, nettle and daffodil.\u00a0 We learned how to recognise them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/files\/2017\/05\/DSCF3358.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4140\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/files\/2017\/05\/DSCF3358-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We have learned that a leaf is not just a leaf!\u00a0 They all look different.\u00a0 We learned\u00a0 that some are called simple leaves (they have a very smooth edge), some compound (lots of leaves on one stalk), some serrated (have little teeth round the edge)\u00a0and some lanceolate (look a bit like a lance).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/files\/2017\/05\/DSCF3362.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4136\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/files\/2017\/05\/DSCF3362-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We collected leaves from each group, we were careful not to damage plants.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/files\/2017\/05\/DSCF3361.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4137\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/files\/2017\/05\/DSCF3361-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In our groups we sorted the leaves according to the groups we had learned about and then as a group decided which one\u00a0was the best example.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/files\/2017\/05\/DSCF3360.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4138\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/files\/2017\/05\/DSCF3360-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We stuck our leaves and labelled\u00a0their type\u00a0on the sheets of paper.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/files\/2017\/05\/DSCF3359.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4139\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/dunblaneprimary\/files\/2017\/05\/DSCF3359-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We went for a walk around the school grounds and learned how to tell if a blossom tree was cherry or apple.\u00a0 We learned how to recognise a horse chestnut tree, a sycamore tree, a silver birch tree and a fir tree.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We went for a walk and learned the names of lots of\u00a0 plants, like dock, clover, dandelion, daisy, hawthorn, rhododendron, nettle and daffodil.\u00a0 We learned how to recognise them.
