Women in Engineering

The DHS Technical Department would like to thank apprentice Engineer, Karis McColl for her talk on Women in Engineering.

Karis attended Dunblane High herself, and has gone on to pursue a career in Engineering. Much to her delight, she has been welcomed warmly into the field, despite it being widely considered a “male dominated” occupation.

She now studies Electronics at the Open University, alongside completing her apprenticeship as a “overhead linesman” with SSE, funding herself through her studies. She was able to describe the good, bad and downright scary aspects of her job, giving our S3 girls a valuable and detailed insight to her area of expertise.

We even enjoyed some Origami!
