Health and Wellbeing Group 2021/22

Health & Wellbeing Community Leadership Group – Primary 1/2 & Mrs Hall.

Action Plan

P1/2 are responsible for leading the Health & Wellbeing
Community Leadership  Group.

During Term 2, we decided to do a survey
of the snacks which our class brought to school in one day. We
used our maths skills to create a pictogram. We found that
while quite a few people brought fruit or bread, there were a lot
of biscuits and sweet snacks.

We explored different foods and learned some more about what types of food are healthy. We learned about the Eatwell Plate which helps us to see how much of the different foods we should eat to stay healthy. We learned that fruit and vegetables are very healthy and we can eat lots of those. Small amounts of sweets and crisps are good to have as a treat occasionally.

Our next step was to survey the other classes in the school. We found that they also had a high number of biscuits, crisps and sweet snacks.

We would like to invite everyone to participate in a Healthy Snack Challenge during the week beginning 22nd March 2021. We would like as many people as possible to bring a healthy option for a snack. Follow the link to find some healthy recipes: https://www.foodafactoflife.org.uk/recipes/

See our Twitter for the Video we made to promote the challenge (our Twitter is private for families and school partners).

Healthy Eating Challenge

Primary 1/2 analysed the results of their Healthy Eating Challenge which had a positive impact on healthy snacks across the school,  They shared their results with each class, using numeracy skills throughout.  See the attachment for a summary of their results and learning.  Well done!
