Getting it Right<\/i> within Cornton Nursery: Practice Guidelines<\/p>\n
Introduction<\/u>.<\/p>\n
The welfare and protection of children and young people is at the heart of\u3000Getting it right for every child<\/i>. (GIRFEC) Within Cornton Nursery, our early intervention approach uses GIRFEC\u2019s eight areas of wellbeing to assess and identify children\u2019s overall development needs. This is in order to ensure children do well now and in the future. “The indicators offer a consistent approach and language that can be used across organisational and geographical boundaries.” (Campbell, C. Minister for Children and Young People, 2012.)<\/p>\n
In Early Years, many children will draw support from their nursery community and key-worker. However, we value the importance of the team around the child. We believe a child\u2019s network of support will almost always have at its heart, their parents, carers and family. The child\u2019s team will also consist of the universal services of health and education and in some cases, other services.<\/p>\n
In response to this, we have ensured that GIRFEC is the strong spine running through all of our policies and practice guidelines. We are therefore committed to ensuring that the eight areas of wellbeing are considered for all, within our Nursery communities. This will respect everyone\u2019s rights; children, families, staff and partners and in turn, will ensure the child\u2019s wellbeing remains at the heart.<\/p>\n
