The next word must begin with the last letter of the previous word. e.g. tiger \u2013 rabbit \u2013 terrapin \u2013 newt.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word within a Word<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Think of a word, then try to find as many words as possible within that word. e.g. important = pin, ant, rot, etc.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Missing Letters<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Write down a word with some letters missing, set a specific time and complete the word \u2013 there could be a number of possibilities for each word. e.g. st_p stop, stoop, strip, etc.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Boggle<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Draw a 3\u00d73 grid and fill each square with a different letter. Then find as many words as possible within a given time or find the longest word.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Silly Voices<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Read a book to someone younger than you.\u00a0 Use lots of expression and silly voices!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Snuggle Up<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Snuggle up in bed, on the sofa or in a den and read out loud to someone you love.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Cheddar Gorge<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You start by giving a one word, the next person says the next word and keep going to make a sentence that makes sense \u2013 but might be a little silly! Don\u2019t forget to extend the sentence with VCOP.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A: The<\/p>\n<p>B:\u2026 boy<\/p>\n<p>C: carefully<\/p>\n<p>A: \u2026opened<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Kangaroo Words<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>How many kangaroo words can you find?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a word with a related synonym inside.<\/p>\n<p>e.g. cHickEN, BLOssOM, hoNOraBLE<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Vocabulary Lines<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Select a word and organise the synonyms of that word from most to least like the word you chose.<\/p>\n<p>e.g. meander \u2013 to walk slowly and not in a straight line<\/p>\n<p>roam, drift, mosey, stroll, traipse, ramble, gallivant<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Map Writing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Maps are fascinating things. Create a map for an unknown island then write about life on this island. Who, or what lives there? What\u2019s the landscape like? What\u2019s there to eat? Do?
