Pupil Empowerment

In Braehead Primary our pupils’ views are considered and taken seriously in all that we do.  Children are empowered to take responsibility for their learning, our school and it’s community.  This page contains links to pupil created websites describing the many ways our pupils participate  in and contribute to the life of the school.

United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child – Article 12 (respect for the views of the child) Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously. This right applies at all times, for example during immigration proceedings, housing decisions or the child’s day-to-day home life.

Pupil Leadership

Our learners are empowered to become school leaders in all aspects of the school community. We have an active house system with regular meetings and whole school engagement. Our Primary Seven  House Captains take charge of areas such as the school grounds, improving reading, engaging with the community and empowering our learners.

This year our Primary 7 Leadership has expanded to allow all Primary Seven Leaders to have a Leadership responsibility. Our roles are ECO Leaders,Creativity Leaders,Buddy Leaders,Sports Leaders,Digital Leaders and Fundraise Managers. They have made an amazing start to their time as Primary 7 leaders and you can follow their progress on this website.

We also have learners in Primary 6+7 working with partner schools in the Young Leaders of Learning pilot.
