Out of School Care Parental Feedback Opportunity

OUT OF SCHOOL CARE PROVISION

Information for parents/carers.

In light of the current circumstances and impending school closure, we feel it is important to ensure all parents are aware of the following information.

As a school we currently provide 15 minutes Book Club to support parents in line with the changing of our school day in August from 3:00pm to 3:15pm.  This provision will end in June 2020.

I was asked to explore Out of School Care provision and with the Parent Council, have looked into breakfast club and end of day provision and am able to share the following information.

Alsorts Out of School Care are an existing local Out of School Care provider based at Borestone Primary that operates independently from the school.  They have some spaces available for children from Braehead Primary School.

  • Alsorts would require between 8 to 10 children each night to attend Alsorts from Braehead Primary School. To ensure the programme would be financially viable for the club
  • Alsorts committee are in agreement with the numbers to make the club financially viable
  • They have space to collect up to 13 children from Braehead Primary each night which would be in accordance with staff to children ratios
  • Alsorts minibus would collect from the school at approximately 3:15pm (they would drop off Playworkers prior to the school bell at 3pm). Alsorts would liaise with the school to ensure safe space for children to wait for minibus collection
  • Costs per day would be £12.80
  • Currently Alsorts have 2 children from Braehead attending their club
  • Alsorts have had a few enquiries from parents of children who attend Braehead Primary School
  • Alsorts would be looking to take this forward at the earliest March 2020 if there is a need for the service, this would allow them time to arrange staffing ratios.

Breakfast Club – Stirling Council are not currently rolling out any new Breakfast Clubs.

Parent/volunteer led Out of School Care.  There is available and support for parents wishing to set up an Out of School Care facility for our childrenIf you are interested in volunteering to support such a venture please contact me.  I will put you in touch with Diane Marshall the Creche, Play and Out of School Care Development Officer who can run through what is involved.
