A very busy and positive Friday!

What a great day we have had! During assembly today several children (67 to be exact) were recognised and celebrated for a variety of Wider Achievements. These included swimming certificates, horse riding competitions, reading very long books and challenging themselves by learning a new skill. The children all stood proudly in front of their peers and will have a leaf added to our Achievement Tree in the dining room – once they are all written! Please let your teacher know if you have tried hard at something and would like to be recognised and celebrated for this.

Four girls from our P2 and P3 were also awarded a bronze medal for their fantastic achievements at the recent Active Stirling Gymnastics competition. Well done to Evie McConnell, Mirren Downie, Sophie Davie-McFadyen and Silver Clark although it should also be mentioned that everyone who attended from Braehead Primary performed excellently and were ranked within the top 20. Well done team!

We celebrated Wallace winning the house point challenge with the members of Wallace house enjoying an extra playtime. This will be a regular treat for the winning house so get earning those points!

Last but definitely not least we celebrated the bravery and thoughtfulness of one of our pupils – Brooke Gilvear in P6. Brooke spoke with her family and decided a while ago that she was going to have her hair cut and donate it to charity. Brooke was recognised for her caring and generous actions and enjoyed a wee photo opportunity after assembly with her lovely new hairstyle.

Well done to all our brilliant Braehead Primary pupils!

Coffee Stop

Braehead Primary School invites you to a monthly drop-in Coffee Stop

Starting on Thursday 24th January, 2019 from 9 – 9.45 am

Why not pop in for a coffee and a chat. We would love to see you!

Request for help.

Class Libraries

We are looking to update and upgrade some of the books in our class libraries. We would be extremely grateful for any donations of pre-loved books. If you have any, please send them in to Miss Scott via your children. We are looking for any good quality picture books and novels that would be suitable for P1-P7.

Book Swap 2019

In order to support the First Minister’s Reading Challenge, we are organising a Book Swap to begin at the end of January so that the pupils can access a wide range of reading books in an economical and sustainable way.

There will be a box in each wing and pupils will be invited to bring in a book from home that they have read and are finished with which will be donated to the Book Swap box. Pupils can then take a different book from the box, which can be read at home or at school. Once they have finished with that book it can be exchanged for another, and so on. A start date for this will be shared in due course.

Thank you for your continued support.

Attention all P6 Parents/Carers

The Dalguise Information Evening will be held in the school on Wednesday 9th January at 5.30pm. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions, hear stories and find out some information about the P7 excursion next year. All current P6 pupils and parents/carers welcome to attend.

Santa Dash

Braehead Primary School Pupil Parliament under the excellent direction of Mr Henderson planned and delivered a fabulous Santa Dash yesterday. The rain was even driven away by the sight of nearly 400 festive characters charging round the school. The children enjoyed some festive activities as they dashed around and we are very happy to announce that we raised £129 through the event. We would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to our families and pupils for this and wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Mrs Samphier’s Crazy Golf Course

As you know, Mrs Samphier will be leaving us at Braehead on Friday. To mark the occasion the pupils designed and created a Braehead Crazy Golf Course for Mrs Samphier to demonstrate her golf skills. The children enjoyed working in groups to design interesting, challenging and in some cases technical feats of engineering for Mrs Samphier. Much fun was had although I won’t share Mrs Samphier’s final score! Let’s just say it was more than the number of classes but less than the number of pupils in the school!

Christingle Singers

On Sunday 16th December our singing group were invited along to attend the Christingle Service at North Parish Church in Braehead. The children were fabulous! Our pupils who attended were very pleased at school on Monday to receive a selection box each as a gift from the church. The smiles say it all! Thank you very much to North Parish Church.  Merry Christmas.

Christmas Tuck Shop

Tuck Shop

Tuck will be available on the morning of the Pantomime (Friday 21st December). Please send no more than £1 with your child. All tuck is nut free.

Pupils can also bring a snack if they wish instead of buying school tuck.

Thank you

Anti-Bullying Logo Competition

As part of Anti-Bullying Week (12th – 16th November) the pupils in the school have been taking part in several activities designed to encourage them to consider ways to stop bullying and promote kindness and fairness. The school ran a competition to design a logo for us to display throughout the school to remind the children of the important messages being shared.

The proud winner was Jenna Hambly in P7! Look out for her poster displayed throughout the school.

The runner-up was Rachel Robertson in P7. Well done to both girls.
