Super Moon Tonight! – Primary 5 Space Context

Primary 5 have been learning about the Space and would like to share this exciting event with everyone (Information taken from BBC News)

The night sky has a display in store on Wednesday, 31 January, with a lunar event being called the “Super blue blood moon”.

For Australia, Asia and some parts of the US and Eastern Europe, there will be a lunar eclipse, as the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon.

On the very same night, our only natural satellite enters its closest point to us in its elliptical orbit.

It will also be the second full Moon of the month, commonly called a blue moon.

The word “blood” has been used to describe the deep red colour of the sunlight that passes through Earth’s atmosphere to illuminate our celestial neighbour.

Braehead Primary Science- Can you help?

plastic-bottles

To help support our science programme we are collecting plastic bottles of various sizes, e.g. cola bottles distilled and spring water bottles. But please note that these must be made from clear plastic, milk bottles won’t work. If you could please rinse out your bottles then send them into school they would enable us to complete many exciting science activities.

We are also looking to collect old DVD’s, scratched ones would be fine.

Many thanks

Mrs Jane McNab (Class teacher)
