Neurodiversity

One of our core school values is inclusion and as a part of this we regularly discuss and acknowledge neurodiversity and the important role it plays in our learning community.

Each year we celebrate Neurodiversity week. Students from Primary 1 to Primary 7 learn about Neurodiversity in the form of whole class lessons, storybooks, research projects and presentations from peers.

Each year our Mission Dyslexia group and Tech Team has launched their most recent project during Neurodiversity week. Below is the stop motion animation created by the Mission Dyslexia group 2021-2022.

For the academic year 2022-2023 students from the Tech Team created a full website about Neurodiversity. Students created hand-drawn banners, researched information, sourced videos and created galleries of famous Neurodiverse people and films, books and TV shows that have Neurodiverse characters.

Scots Poem

P3,P3/4,P4 and P4/5

As part of our Scottish celebrations we have been listening to Scottish poems. As a class we have decided to learn a poem which we will recite to the rest of our class. Should we have difficulty with the Scots dialect we have not to worry as our class teacher and the web site

http://www.electricscotland.com/culture/features/scots/children.htm

will support our learning.

We have to learn our chosen poem for our performance on Wednesday 24th January.

We are being encouraged to:

  • Learn as much of the poem as we can. (being able to recite our poem off by heart would help with our entertaining of the audience)
  • Speak loudly and clearly
  • Make eye contact with our audience
  • Use expression
  • Use some actions

We hope you enjoy learning with us and thanks for your continued support.

Primary 3/4 Homework

This week primary 3/4 have been working on paragraphs. We have been building juicy paragraph burgers, with our context sentence at the top. This has been followed by our 3 detail sentences in which we describe or discuss the context sentence. Finally we have been “wrapping it up” with a concluding sentence.

As homework this week could you ask your children to write a paragraph on a subject of their choice.

Many thanks

Mr Gonet

Class Trip Primary 3/4

On Friday Primary 3/4 will be taking a class trip to Tesco as part of the Farm to Fork project. This project is promoting healthy eating habits and  raising awareness of where our food comes from. I would just like to remind parents and carers to pack a lunch for the children on this day.

Many thanks

Mr Gonet
