These\u00a0can include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>mobility assistance \u2013 including exercise,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/conditions\/physiotherapy\/\">physiotherapy<\/a>\u00a0and physical aids<\/li>\n<li>support groups \u2013 to deal with the practical and emotional impact of MD<\/li>\n<li>surgery \u2013 to correct postural deformities, such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/conditions\/scoliosis\/\">scoliosis<\/a><\/li>\n<li>medication \u2013 such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/conditions\/Corticosteroid-(drugs)\/Pages\/Introduction.aspx\">steroids<\/a>\u00a0to improve muscle strength, or ACE inhibitors and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/conditions\/beta-blockers\/\">beta-blockers<\/a>\u00a0to treat heart problems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>New research is looking into ways of repairing the genetic mutations and damaged muscles associated with MD.
