{"id":5393,"date":"2024-11-20T15:26:16","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T15:26:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/balfronhighschool\/?page_id=5393"},"modified":"2024-11-20T15:29:55","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T15:29:55","slug":"exams-coursework-malpractice","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/balfronhighschool\/exams-coursework-malpractice\/","title":{"rendered":"Exams, Coursework &amp; Malpractice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SQA require all candidates entered for SQA qualification courses to complete these according to the required conditions of assessment, and without any type of malpractice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Malpractice by a candidate can occur, for example, in:<\/strong><br>\u2666 the preparation and authentication of coursework<br>\u2666 the preparation or presentation of practical work<br>\u2666 the compilation of a portfolio of assessment evidence<br>\u2666 the completion of an examination paper, or the controlled write-up stage of externallyassessed coursework<br>\u2666 conduct during or after an assessment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The main categories of candidate malpractice are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Breach of assessment conditions \u2014 Breaching the defined assessment conditions, such as completing work outside of controlled conditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collusion \u2014 Colluding with other candidates when the assessment should be completed by individual candidates. Examples of collusion include copying work from another candidate; sharing work with another candidate; and\/or working collaboratively with other candidates on tasks that should be completed individually.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Frivolous content \u2014 Producing content that is unrelated to the exam paper, or to any question that is in the exam script or coursework.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Misconduct \u2014 Behaviour in the exam room that causes disruption to others. This includes talking, shouting, abusive or aggressive behaviour or language, and having a prohibited electronic device that emits any kind of sound in the exam room.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offensive content \u2014 Content in scripts or coursework that includes vulgarity and swearing that is out with the context of the assessment, or any material of a discriminatory nature (including racism, sexism and homophobia).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personation \u2014 Assuming the identity of another candidate or a candidate having someone assume their identity during an assessment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plagiarism \u2014 Failure to acknowledge sources properly and\/or the submission of another person\u2019s work as if it were the candidate\u2019s own.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prohibited items \u2014 Physical possession of prohibited items (including mobile phones, electronic devices, handwritten notes, etc) in the exam room.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Where there is any suggestion of malpractice, it must be investigated fully.&nbsp; Where malpractice is found to have occurred, it can lead to&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Warning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Warning with Revision of Marks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cancellation of a component<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cancellation of a full award<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is therefore extremely important that all candidates are aware of possible malpractice.\u00a0 SQA provide the following booklets to support candidates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/public\/balfronhighschool\/uploads\/sites\/3190\/2024\/11\/20152703\/Your-NQ-2024-25-school.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/public\/balfronhighschool\/uploads\/sites\/3190\/2024\/11\/20152703\/Your-NQ-2024-25-school.pdf\">SQA \u201cYour National Qualifications\u201d Booklet<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/public\/balfronhighschool\/uploads\/sites\/3190\/2024\/11\/20152707\/SQA_Exams_Booklet_24.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/st\/public\/balfronhighschool\/uploads\/sites\/3190\/2024\/11\/20152707\/SQA_Exams_Booklet_24.pdf\">SQA \u201cYour Exams\u201d Booklet<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please ensure that both of these booklets have been read, in advance of completing any SQA Coursework, or SQA Exams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SQA require all candidates entered for SQA qualification courses to complete these according to the required conditions of assessment, and without any type of malpractice.
