Update 2nd June – Return To Balfron HS Campus

I am pleased to inform you that we are a little ahead of schedule for our return to Balfron Campus.

We are now in a position to return on Friday 3rd June.

  • This means that S1-S3 pupils can move on to their new timetable (S2-S4) for one day prior to seniors returning on Monday 6th June.

I am delighted to have this extra day as it provides the space to ensure that our younger pupils are fully inducted (movement, fire evacuation, curriculum, timetable) when the school is less busy. We will pick up this important information with our new S5 and S6 on Monday.

Timetables

New timetables will be issued to pupils at form class time on return to Balfron High. Please note that the following classes are timetabled for PE on Friday:

  • New S2 (E1, E2, E3)  and all new S4 National 5 PE pupils should bring their PE kit on Friday

Learning Village

The classrooms in the learning village have been named to match the classrooms that are out of use:

  • English rooms C1-C7, and
  • Science rooms C8-C10 and C12-C13.

Pupils who usually go to form class in Lomond 1 (English) and Lomond 2 (Science) home areas should go to the class in the learning village signed-posted with the usual classroom name/number on it.

  • All other pupils should go to their normal class for form.

Assemblies

Assemblies will run for the new S2-S4 on Friday morning before interval. These will take place in the Strathendrick Suite. Access to the Strathendrick Suite is from the front of the school.

  • New S2 pupils should register with their form class leader and then come to assembly in the Strathendrick Suite.   S3 and S4 assemblies will follow – teaching staff will alert them to times.
  • S5 and S6 assemblies will take place on Monday morning. Pupils should go to form class first and will be registered, given timetables and advised of assembly times.

Catering

The balance that is left on lunch cards from our partners schools will be transferred to pupils’ Balfron High cards for their return. Catering will be served from a marquee that has been erected on campus. There will also be sandwich bar at the front of the school to alleviate queues.

I am very grateful to colleagues at Stirling Council and our partner schools for their support and kindness over the past few weeks and am now very much looking forward to having our young people and staff back on campus.

Please note that building repair work will continue to take place throughout the June term and through the summer holidays. We plan to be fully returned to our building at the start of the new term in August.

Thanks again for your support and patience throughout this process.
