Update 25th May 2016

Prefect and Prefect Leadership Application Update

For the attention of (current) S5 pupils – please find updated information on the Prefect and Prefect Leadership application process here.

Building Update

The repair programme continues to progress on schedule with work being done outwith school hours. We had an assurance that exams and learning will not be adversely affected and I am pleased that this has certainly been the case to date.

New S2 Electives (for parents of current S1 pupils)

All pupils in S2 will have the opportunity to choose two 10 week   blocks of Creative electives that are made up of Dance/Drama/Art or Music. A choice form will be issued tomorrow via Form Class Leaders and we ask that they are completed, signed by parents and returned to Form Class Leaders on Friday morning. The electives will start for half of the year group on return for the new timetable.

SQA Exam Support (for senior phase pupils)
Study support for seniors is available as follows. There is one addition to the list:
 N5 and Higher Modern Studies revision: All day Thursday 26th May
 Higher Sociology: All day Thursday 26th May
 Higher PE: Thursday 26th and Tuesday 31st May
 Design and Manufacture: Wednesday 1st June
 Mrs Patrick has contacted pupils directly to arrange times for Higher and N5 Accounts revision.

New Timetable (for all returning pupils)

As you know, next session we move to the 33 period week. We conducted an extensive consultation earlier in the year with the parent council, pupils, teaching and support staff. We agreed that for us, the best format will be a 31 period week with four form class slots. We were all keen to retain our form class structure for four days. Adding it to a fifth day would have made the start time significantly
earlier. Lunch time will be slightly longer on four days. It was recognised by all groups that this would benefit inter-house, clubs and supported study. It was agreed that our 7 period day would have three periods together between interval and lunchtime rather than first thing in the day. It was not an option to have three periods in the afternoon as we share catering facilities with Balfron Primary
School. Young people, parents and staff felt that a break for interval after two periods would be helpful for our young people to refuel. Interval and lunchtime are slightly shorter on these days to allow us to finish by 3:30pm. This is required for the bus services home.

Our new timetable will begin on site on June 6th with times slightly adapted to allow us to run our new curriculum to take account of the current bus contract and movement between our main building and learning village.

From August our school start time will be slightly earlier. The bus company has been informed and details of pick up times for August will be shared with you in due  course. The timings for June and August are below.
