Week Beginning Monday 12th December 2022

Welcome to the Head Teacher’s blog for Week Beginning 5th December 2022

HT Vacancy Update

A letter was issued at the beginning of the week from Stewart Nicoloson, Head of Education, explaining that Mrs. Paula Ross, currently Head Teacher of Bothwell Primary School, will be Acting Head Teacher at Woodhead from January 2023.

It is intended for the permanent vacancy to be advertised in the New Year.

My last day at Woodhead will be Friday 23rd December 2022.

P6 and P6/7 Learning Showcase

Thank you to all of the parents/carers who attended the P6 and P6/7 Showcase on Wednesday 7th December 2022.  If you have still to leave feedback, the Google Form is still open: https://forms.gle/5uBZAETukAF7vir49

Christmas Arrangements

https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/sl/public/woodheadpsht/uploads/sites/14613/2022/11/27123311/Christmas-Arrangements-2022-1.pdf

Our Christmas Party day is on Thursday 15th December 2022 (see the above link for details).

  • Nursery parents are invited to join us for Santa at 1.30pm
  • P2 parents are invited to join us for Santa at 2.00pm
  • P1 parents are invited to join us for Santa at 2.30pm

We are looking forward to welcoming our P1 parents/carers for the Nativity performance on Tuesday 13th at 1.30mm or Wednesday 14th at 9.30am.  Tickets were issued a few weeks ago and are required for entry.

There will be Magic Reindeer Dust on sale at the Nativity Performance for 50p a bag.

Christmas Sing-a-long

As you are aware, our Christmas Service has been cancelled as the school chaplain position is currently vacant.

We have decided to have a short Christmas sing-a-long on the date that the service was planned for and we would like to invite parents/carers to attend.

This will take place on Wednesday 21st December 2022 at the following times:

• P1-Primary 3/4: 9.30am (Doors open at 9am)
• P4-7: 11.15am (Doors open at 11am)

Please note that this is not a performance or a show, but a short time to come together and sing some Christmas songs. The choir will also perform one or two songs.

Due to the limited capacity in our hall, we can only offer 60 places at each event. We ask that parents/carers only attend one of the events not both and that no more than 2 adults from each household attend.

To help us manage the limited capacity we are using Event Bright to book the tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. The links below can be used to book free tickets. These will be available from 4pm today until 9.30am on Friday 16th December 2022.

Please note that there is no obligation to purchase any books from a child’s wish list.

*It may be required to order books for later delivery depending on stock levels.

Non-Uniform Day

Our next non-uniform day will take place on Friday 28th October 2022.  The School House Captains have decided on the optional theme of ‘Hallowe’en’

Children can come to school wearing a Hallowe’en costume or Hallowe’en themed outfit. Please avoid overly scary outfits that younger children might not like. Please also leave all accessories such as wands, swords, etc. at home.

We have a small supply of donated costumes that we would be delighted to pass on to any families.  Pop in to the office if you would like to have a look.
