Update to COVID Mitigations for Schools – 2nd Feb 2022

The Scottish Government updated the COVID-19 mitigations for schools yesterday.

You can access the latests information at: https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-on-reducing-the-risks-in-schools/pages/overview/

For the main part, these mitigation revert back to those that were in place prior to the emergence of the Omicron variant.

The requirement for children to remain in class bubbles indoors has been removed, however we will continue to limit indoor contact between classes for now due to number of cases in pupils at the moment.

Important Changes to Parent Entry to School Grounds

The current guidance allows us to remove ‘staggered starts to the school day.’ At Woodhead, we met this requirement by introducing a one-way system to the playground and through the soft-start entry to school from 8.45am.

We will continue with the soft-start arrangements for now. However, from Monday 7th February 2022 we will remove our playground one way system. Parents/Carers will be able to enter and exit via the Torhead stairs and the MUGA pitch gate at the start and end of the school day. From this date, the gate near the bin store will no longer be opened.

I ask that you continue to help reduce the risk in our school grounds by:

* continuing to follow the rules about mask wearing.
* encouraging your child to walk in/out of school themselves.
* arranging to meet your child outwit the school grounds wherever possible.
* limiting the number of adults to one per family.

These changes take affect from Monday 7th February 2022 to give you time to ensure your child knows what to do and where to meet you at the end of the day.

I appreciate your support

Kind regards

Mr. Clark
