Absence from school, whatever the cause, disrupts learning, can have an adverse impact on participation, attainment, peer relationships, health and wellbeing and ultimately positive life outcomes for our children and young people.<\/p>\n<p>The causes and resultant impact of poor attendance are complex and far reaching. \u00a0Poor attendance has been linked to lower levels of attainment, difficulties with peer relationships, emotional and behaviour needs and poorer post school outcomes including employment opportunities.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Attendance Procedures for Wester Overton Primary School and Nursery<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If your child is unwell and is not attending school or nursery, please telephone the school office and leave a message on the absence line before 9.30am.<\/p>\n<p>If we are unable to make contact with you we must follow South Lanarkshire Guidelines for absent children. These are detailed below:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Step 1<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 office staff make call to parent. If we are unable to contact parent;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Step 2<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 office staff make call to emergency contact person(s).\u00a0 If unable to make contact;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Step 3<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 written contact will be made via text or email, requesting that you contact the school.
