{"id":1143,"date":"2020-09-15T11:47:48","date_gmt":"2020-09-15T10:47:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sl\/victoriaparkprimaryschool\/?page_id=1143"},"modified":"2024-07-25T10:09:56","modified_gmt":"2024-07-25T09:09:56","slug":"reporting-pupil-absence","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sl\/victoriaparkprimaryschool\/reporting-pupil-absence\/","title":{"rendered":"Reporting Pupil Absence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is important for the school to work with parents in encouraging all children to attend school.\u00a0 All absences from school are required by law to be recorded.\u00a0 Absences will normally fall under 2 categories \u2013 authorised or unauthorised absence.\u00a0 In cases where your child is unable to attend school, parents are asked to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you know in advance of any reason why your child is likely to be absent from school, please tell someone at the school, phone us or let us know in writing. Please also give your child a note on his\/her return to school, telling of the reason for absence;<\/li>\n<li>Notify the school first thing in the morning when your child is going to be absent. Let the school know the likely date of return and keep them informed if the date changes.\u00a0 Parents should also inform transport of any absences to ensure they do make any unnecessary journeys to pick up pupils not attending school.\u00a0 Please do not pass on messages to taxis and buses and instead contact the school office directly.<\/li>\n<li>If we have not heard from you by 9:45am we will call you to confirm the absence.<\/li>\n<li>Inform the school of any change to the following:\n<ul>\n<li>home phone number<\/li>\n<li>mobile number<\/li>\n<li>emergency contact details<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Requests for your child to be absent from school to make an extended visit to relatives must be made in writing to the head teacher, detailing the reason, destination and duration of absence and arrangements for their continuing education.
