Iris Folding

Hello

I have been going to a master class called iris folding. You probably don’t know what it is. Iris folding is where you have a template and it has numbers on it. You have all different types  of paper to use, and you just tape the paper on your card. When I first went to the master class I was really confused but now I love it. I have just finished my first one. Also Primary 6 have started doing it for art. My friend and I have started a chick. I needed to help her because she was getting really stuck and so was half the class. I really love iris folding and it is my teacher that takes us. 🙂

Hockey Tournament and Chess Tournament

Hockey Tournament

On Thursday the 26th of March we went to a hockey tournament at Hamilton College.  My team won the first game 5-0 then lost about 16-0 in the second game and then won again 2-0. We all had lots of fun at the tournament and hope that we can go to another hockey tournament in the future.

Chess Tournament

On the same day as the hockey tournament some of the boys went to Hamilton College aswell, to play chess. I was B1 which is the second team captain. My team were 2 points off qualifying for the next tournament however the first team came 6th and qualified. I won 1 out of 4 which was ok considering we were playing a lot of hard teams.

Hockey Tournment!

On Thursday p6  went to Hamilton College for a hockey tournament. We were split in to groups of four. Amy`s team won 1 game and drew 2. Katie’s team won 3 games. The reason we were at the tournament was because since Christmas we have been getting hockey lessons every Tuesday but sadly we aren’t getting our lessons anymore as we have had them for a while and other classes are getting the chance now. We have a hockey coach called John who was there as well.  We played against lots of different schools that we had  never met before. This was a very good way to make friends and play against different people. The pitch was very big and we got lots of exercise which we enjoyed . We really enjoyed the tournament and hope we could get a chance to do it again sometime.

Dynamic Earth

This is a picture of our trip to Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.  We went in March and we had a fantastic time.  We really enjoyed our workshops and the tour.  We realised we had learned a lot doing our topic on Natural Disasters, as we were able to answer most of the questions the guides asked us.  My favourite part was the volcano video screen and the walkway that shuddered and shook as the volcano erupted.  That was really cool.  The iceberg was really cool too!  Not just cool but extremely cold!!  Which were your favourite parts?

Fair Trade – Gold

Over the next two weeks our school are going to be learning about Fair Trade because it is Fair Trade Fortnight.

One of the main problems is gold mining which is the topic I am going to be focusing on.

Gold is one of the main problems because of the poison in the mines. They only do it because the need to, to survive and there also is a big demand for it.

Dynamic Earth

Hello everyone,

Two weeks ago our class went to Dynamic Earth. I thoroughly enjoyed it as I got to learn how the world works. It was really interesting. We participated in two work shops. In one we did lots of things but my favourite was when we got two bottles one on top of each other with water inside them. We spun them round in circles which created a hurricane. For me it was quite fascinating and I was intrigued. At the end of the day all of the class including Mrs Lobodowska and Mr Kettlewell got their picture taken. Then Mr Kettlewell glued the picture to a card and gave one to each of us. I had a really great time and I am thankful because Mr Kettlewell and Mrs Lobodowska went through a lot of trouble to get us that trip.

Poem about fairtrade

I am going to tell you a poem about fairtrade.

Before Fairtrade the farmers were unhappy

Fairtrade came to help which made them happy

They don’ t  have enough money to buy food and water

You never know  they may have a wife, son or daughter.

Thank you for reading it.

P.E. Ball Skills

Hello, this year in P.E. we are looking at a new topic. It is called ball skills. When we get in the P.E. hall we all race to the cupboard to get the best ball and who ever is last they get the flat ball.  We have been  practising using our heads, chest, knees, and feet to do keepy-uppyes  to try and improve our skills. After gym we go back to class and get changed back in to school uniform once we are ready. We sit on the carpet and give out the medals. There is a gold medal, silver and bronze.

I hope you liked reading this post.  By Kai McGoldrick 🙂

Dynamic Earth/Mr Kettlewell

When our class went to Dynamic Earth I didn’t expect it to be AWESOME. I thought that it was going to be big in the first place. I kind of knew that there would be a shop there.  Mr Kettlewell gave us a picture, an Easter egg each and a bouncy ball each.  I’m sure all of the class was very greatful. After the trip he ended up leaving the week after.
