Hockey Tournament / Chess Tournament

31/03/15  Last week our class went to a hockey tournament and four of the boys in our class went to a chess tournament. The weird thing was that both tournaments were at the same place and it was at Hamilton College. The hockey tournament was very fun. We got split into four teams and my team was very good . We had a lot of good players in my team . We played 5 games but out of the 5 games we didn’t win a game sadly. We drew 4 games and lost 1. But during the games I had people asking my name. The boys who went to the chess tournament had a good time because one of the teams qualified. That was my team. I won two matches, somebody won two and a half matches and so on. We play four matches each at every tournament.

Iris Folding

Hello

I have been going to a master class called iris folding. You probably don’t know what it is. Iris folding is where you have a template and it has numbers on it. You have all different types  of paper to use, and you just tape the paper on your card. When I first went to the master class I was really confused but now I love it. I have just finished my first one. Also Primary 6 have started doing it for art. My friend and I have started a chick. I needed to help her because she was getting really stuck and so was half the class. I really love iris folding and it is my teacher that takes us. 🙂

Dynamic Earth

Hello everyone,

Two weeks ago our class went to Dynamic Earth. I thoroughly enjoyed it as I got to learn how the world works. It was really interesting. We participated in two work shops. In one we did lots of things but my favourite was when we got two bottles one on top of each other with water inside them. We spun them round in circles which created a hurricane. For me it was quite fascinating and I was intrigued. At the end of the day all of the class including Mrs Lobodowska and Mr Kettlewell got their picture taken. Then Mr Kettlewell glued the picture to a card and gave one to each of us. I had a really great time and I am thankful because Mr Kettlewell and Mrs Lobodowska went through a lot of trouble to get us that trip.

P.E. Ball Skills

Hello, this year in P.E. we are looking at a new topic. It is called ball skills. When we get in the P.E. hall we all race to the cupboard to get the best ball and who ever is last they get the flat ball.  We have been  practising using our heads, chest, knees, and feet to do keepy-uppyes  to try and improve our skills. After gym we go back to class and get changed back in to school uniform once we are ready. We sit on the carpet and give out the medals. There is a gold medal, silver and bronze.

Fair Trade Cotton!

Buy Fair Trade!

In my blog I am going to tell you a bit about fair trade and I am also going to tell you where you can buy fair trade products.

Where you can buy fair trade products.

  • M&S
  •  Tesco
  • Morrison’s
  • Sainsbury’s

A bit about fair trade cotton.

Cotton is one of the world most oldest commercial crop.  300 million people  are much happier now because of fair trade. Fair trade people have bought their product and these farmers got a fair price. The price of cotton has gone down in the last 30 years so farmers are struggling to survive in these countries- India, Kyrgyzstan and West Africa.

Dynamic Earth

A week ago we went to Dynamic Earth.

Dynamic Earth is so awesome because it has interesting facts, fun activities, an iceberg, a video and foam coming down from the ceiling. There are so many rooms and for the first time I enjoyed going on a school trip with a long ride on the bus. The best part was the iceberg. People were touching it, people were licking it. I bought top trumps to play on the bus and a soft toy for bed.

Thanks for reading my blog.

Chocolate Banana-Fair Trade

Hello,

In school we had a fun task to do. We were working in a group to do activities. The group we were working in had to create a product and music to go with it. The product our group came up was a chocolate banana. We had instruments to create a beat along with lyrics. We made a poster it was a banana skin with chocolate in the middle. We really enjoyed our task and we performed it in front of the class. It was funny!.

Fairtrade

Cotton is the worlds oldest crop. Cotton is produced mostly by China, India and the USA. Cotton is vital for survival of many low countries such as: Central and West Asia and Africa.

Cotton farmers work in developing countries such as India and China. There are 100 million households engaged with cotton and there are an estimated 300 million people who work in the cotton industry. For farmers, the challenges range from climate change to getting a fair amount of money for their cotton.  Fairtrade cotton was launched to put the attention on cotton farmers who were often left unknown.  60% of cotton around the world is produced by people who are small farmers and often the worlds poorest people. Fair trade works with more than 66,000 farmers in some of the worlds poorest countries.

I hope this has encouraged you to start buying fair trade.

PHILOSOPHY!!

PHILOSOPHY IS AMAZING !

Philosophy is amazing  because it is really fun when we have to agree and disagree with other people. Sometimes we will get a text to read and we will ask questions and our Philosophy teacher Mr Kettlewell, will write them down on his note pad. There would usually be about 13-15 questions being asked, and then he would pick one and then we start to do the agreeing and the disagreeing.
