Fairtrade

Hello,

Our school is involved in fair-trade, our class have been focussing on cotton. These are some of the things that we know : cotton is the world’s oldest and well known material in the world; there are cotton farmers in several countries like India and China, fair trade cotton is made by the farmers that are often left invisible and not in the spotlight.

Fair Trade

Hello,

For the next two weeks it is Fair Trade fortnight. Fair Trade means to pay the farmers the right price for what they have produced. Fair Trade is really important because farmers take a long time to produce the products and they aren’t getting paid as much as they should be. Farmers sometimes have to do things to make the product that could harm them, so they really should be paid a fair price. Farmers only get paid vey little, which really isn’t  fair for the amount of work they do.

Thank you  for reading.

Tsunamis and Volcanoes

Hello everyone this is a blog post about tsunamis and volcanoes and how they are made.

Tsunamis are formed by underwater earthquakes. The earthquake causes water to rise on the surface.

A volcano is a mountain that has a pool of molten rock.  This rock comes from the mantel, a  layer in our earth. The molten rock pushes up into a mountain creating something called a magma chamber. It builds up pressure and then explodes. We have been working  very hard to make this blog. Please comment.  We would love to hear what you think and about any things we have missed out.  A big thank you to  Mrs Lobodowska and Mr Kettlewell (the best teachers ever) 🙂

Fair Trade Cotton

Hello everyone,  my class are talking about Fair Trade and we have decided to make a blog about it.

  •  300 million people work to make cotton.
  • The leading producers are India, China and the US .
  • people employ children under the age of 12 in some counties.
  • cotton is the world’s oldest crop .
  • In some  counties cotton can be used as payment.
  •  Fair Trade cotton is made by farmers who get a decent and fair price.

Thank You for reading my blog. If there is anything we left out please write it in a comment.

Fair Trade

For the next few weeks in our school it is Fair Trade week. We have been starting to learn about cotton. A lot of years ago all over the world children were forced to work in factories for hours. That is one of the reasons why Fair Trade started. Fair Trade means to pay the farmers a fair price for the product they have made. Lots of companies buy cotton from the farmers but don’t pay a fair price. The farmers spent hours making cotton and they only get paid about £1 or 50p. I really want to make a difference to the poor farmers not getting paid enough money and try and get companies to be a part of Fair Trade.

Thanks for Reading !

Fair Trade

Hello everyone, we have been learning about Fair Trade and how it affects the world around us.  This blog post is all about cotton.  Cotton is one of the most important crops in the global textile industry, basically that means that it is one of the most used fabrics/materials around the world. The working conditions for Africa and Eastern Asia are despicable i.e. child labour, governments forcing people in a terrible state to work and most of all, illegally employing children. We are all trying our hardest to support Fair Trade and by doing Fair Trade Fortnight we are all supporting Fair Trade.

Goodbye and Thank You

Hello,

I would just like to say a massive Thank You to our wonderful teacher Mr Kettlewell. At the start of the year a musical person came into our school to teach, and Room 12 were lucky enough to get him. Mr Kettlewell taught our class for around about 3 and a half months. Room 12 and Mrs Lobodowska really miss him because he would always bring colour into everything and  had a very unusual ( in the good way ) sense of humor. If you are reading this now Mr Kettlewell, I would really like to say a humongous Thank You and Good Luck in your future of teaching.

Our Topic!

In school we have been doing natural disasters as a topic. We have been learning about volcanoes, earthquakes, tornadoes,  tsunamis and hurricanes. Mrs Lobodowska and Mr Kettlewell have made it a really fun topic, they took us to Dynamic Earth. It was amazing! We went back in time and we made tornadoes and earthquakes. We also did some drama on it. We made a volcano coming out of the wall and the full class helped.

I really enjoyed doing this topic!
