Natural Disasters

Volcanoes

Hello everyone, we have been learning about volcanoes and their substances, which is magma and lava.

MAGMA – the lava before it explodes out of the volcano.

LAVA – the hot and deadly molten rock with a fiery red colour which can kill and destroy anything in it’s paths.

We are very excited to be learning more about volcanoes and all of the other Natural Disasters.

Philosophy and Philosodrama

Over the past few weeks we have been doing philosophy.

Mr Kettlewell has been taking my class for philosophy and I have been enjoying it. We have to read a text in philosophy but last week Mr Kettlewell got us to act out a scene.

In philosophy we get to say what we think and if we agree or disagree with what the person before us said. Mr Kettlewell has also been taking us for philosodrama which is philosophy and drama mixed together. Last week in philosodrama we discussed if it was right to give money to poor people or not. Some people said that a beggar could be a millionaire in disguise as a poor person.

The first time we got to do philosophy the text was about eating people and we talked about whether it was right or not to eat people. We also talked about survival.

Thank you for reading my blog. I hope to be doing more of philosodrama in the future.

Natural Disasters

Hello,

Primary 6 have been learning all about Natural Disasters in class. We have been looking into earthquakes, volcanos, floods and droughts. We paid particular attention to flooding and were researching Venice also know as The Drowning City. I am still learning about Natural Disasters and I am thoroughly enjoying it as I get to learn about how the world works.

Thank you for reading.

Over the past few weeks we have been doing drama.

We have been doing drama with Mr Kettlewell. I have really enjoyed it. We have being creating still images, it has been fun to watch everyone create funny images.

Natural Disasters

In my class we are doing Natural Disasters.

We have been learning about floods, earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis and droughts. My favourite so far has been volcanoes because I find it very interesting that when lava is below the ground it is called magma and when it is above the ground it is called lava. Next week we will be going to Dynamic Earth to find out even more about disasters.

Thanks for reading !!!

Volcanoes

Primary 6 have been doing a topic on Natural Disasters, I have chosen to do it on volcanoes!

Volcanoes: when volcanoes erupt lava bursts out and can be very dangerous .The lava can have temperatures around 5000 degrees Celsius. When volcanoes erupt the lava can cool down and turn into rock. If it keeps erupting over a long time the rock expands and it will eventually turn into a mountain. If lava is beneath the ground it is called magma but if magma or lava is above the ground it is called lava.

Football Tournament

On the 20th of February we went to Bent Park to play a football tournament. It was brilliant. One of the teams qualified for the next stage and that was our team. We won all of our games and we scored 21 goals. We are looking forward to the finals on Thursday and we will try to our best to win.
