Over the past few weeks we have been doing philosophy.
Mr Kettlewell has been taking my class for philosophy and I have been enjoying it. We have to read a text in philosophy but last week Mr Kettlewell got us to act out a scene.
In philosophy we get to say what we think and if we agree or disagree with what the person before us said. Mr Kettlewell has also been taking us for philosodrama which is philosophy and drama mixed together. Last week in philosodrama we discussed if it was right to give money to poor people or not. Some people said that a beggar could be a millionaire in disguise as a poor person.
The first time we got to do philosophy the text was about eating people and we talked about whether it was right or not to eat people. We also talked about survival.
Thank you for reading my blog. I hope to be doing more of philosodrama in the future.

Well done Amy I really enjoyed your blog post. It was very long and interesting.
I really liked your part on philosodrama and I want to do more aswell.
Brilliant post Amy. Your description of philosodrama was great and the philosophy part about eating is quite funny. Well done again Amy!
Amy, hello.
I work with Mr. Kettlewell at the university and we have done philosophy together. I find your post very interesting indeed. I would have enjoyed being part of the discussion. If I had been, I think I would have said something about someone who disguised themselves as a beggar, even if they were a millionaire, should be given money because it is the giving money that makes you a good person (or not). It doesn’t matter whether the person getting the money needs it or not.
The question about eating people is a hard one. It makes me wonder what the difference is between animals and people, because lots of people eat animals.
Claire.
Hello, Claire
It sounds really interesting to work at the university. What is your favourite thing about working there? I think you’re right about giving money to people that are beggars even if there not but other people might not agree.
The thing you said about eating animals is hard to think about. I think that animals are living things like us so why should we eat them but lots of people like eating meat so its really hard to think about.
Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog.
Amy
Hello Amy-Lee,
I agree with Daniel, Amy and Matthew. Great blog! I have a question for you.
What was your favourite (philosophy or philosodrama) and why?
Mr Kettlewell
Amy, hello.
I’m sorry that I didn’t reply sooner. I didn’t receive an e-mail to say the blog had been up-dated.
The answer to your question about working at the university is easy. I like it best when I get to do philosophy with my students. I really enjoy hearing about people’s thinking. I also enjoy when they struggle to say what they want to say and then they have a great idea and everyone gets excited by the idea – even though they might not all agree with it.
I agree that animals are living things like us. You ask a question about that too. You wonder why eating animals is okay and not eating humans if we’re happy to eat meat. This is exactly my point! What is the difference between humans and animals? I wonder if we’re actually not very different at all because we all have feelings and I think other animals think. Oh dear, there’s another question: do animals think? How could we know? In fact, how can I even know if Mr Kettlewell or anyone else thinks? My goodness, philosophy can be hard work!
Good luck with the thinking.
Claire.
