The newly formed South Lanarkshire Schools’ Saxophone Ensemble, consisting of 25 talented young musicians, are the only local authority schools’ saxophone ensemble in Scotland. The group rehearse each term, bringing together pupils from all South Lanarkshire learning communities.

The ensemble has recently acquired a magnificent bass saxophone, the only one of its kind in the whole of Scotland. This rare instrument is adds a rich, warm depth to the ensemble’s sound while inspiring young musicians to learn more about the saxophone family.

The South Lanarkshire Schools’ Saxophone Ensemble were recently invited to play at the inaugural ‘We Make Music Conference’ run in conjunction with the Music Education Partnership Group.
