For Student Teachers and Newly Qualified Teachers, we have a planned programme of in-house Professional learning Activities and Networking opportunities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/a>Student Teacher School Programme<\/h2>\n

Over the school year, we have two blocks of students with us. The first block runs from from October to December and then the second block from February to June. During both blocks, we provide weekly student seminars on such topics as \u2018The Student Teacher Experience\u2019 from a NQT. This is followed by a selection of presentations on such issues as \u2018Excellence in Learning and Teaching\u2019, \u2018Child Protection\u2019, \u2018Raising Attainment\u2019, \u2018ICT\u2019 and \u2018Seemis\u2019 which are given by members of the school’s SMT. Students are also given to opportunity to regularly network with each other, with Mr Slowey proving mentoring and support.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a>NQT School Programme<\/h2>\n

In addition to South Lanarkshire Council’s NQT development programme, as a school, we provide a regular after-school networking and seminar programme for NQTs. Again this is organised by Mr Slowey. This is in addition to our regular CPD programme available to all staff. The NQT Professional Learning Activities begin with \u2018The NQT Experience\u2019 given by one of our newly recruited members of staff who has recently completed their own first year of teaching. Presentations on \u2018Excellence in Learning and Teaching\u2019, \u2018Child Protection\u2019, \u2018Raising Attainment\u2019, \u2018ICT\u2019 and \u2018Seemis\u2019 then follow, delivered by members of the SMT. Our NQTs also receive support in sessions focused on Applications and Recruitment. As part of this, mock interview experience is provided. Throughout the year, NQTs meet as a group with Mr Slowey to network, sharing and discussing their experiences.<\/p>\n

Please note, our in-house Professional Learning Activities and Professional Reading Group sessions are open to all staff. Our Student Teachers and NQTs are most welcome to attend.
