Home Learning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A child\u2019s first experiences and interactions will shape their early knowledge of themselves and the world around them.<\/p>\n<p>When you make little ones feel comforted, safe and loved, they will build self-confidence. Creating stimulating and interesting learning opportunities lets little ones develop a love of learning. When you offer support and praise, your child will be encouraged to try their best.<\/p>\n<p>There are many things you can do as your child\u2019s first teacher to help the next generation of leaders grow strong, proud and capable. The lessons they learn from you can set them on the right path.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Early Literacy:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Reading to your child<br \/>\nTalking and listening to your child<br \/>\nSinging songs to your child<br \/>\nGetting to know the alphabet together<\/p>\n<p><strong>Early Numeracy:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Take part in baking at home &#8211; measure our ingredients together<br \/>\nCount, sort and match things at home<br \/>\nDiscuss sizes of things (small, medium, large, bigger, smallest etc)<br \/>\nTell them what time it is and discuss time throughout the day<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health and Nutrition:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Provide them with a variety of healthy foods<br \/>\nTalk to them about where food comes from<br \/>\nTake part in cooking together<br \/>\nExplore the outdoors together, climb trees, wade in a stream, take risks<br \/>\nTake part in exercise together, swimming, walks, sports<br \/>\nTalk about healthy foods and nutrition (e.g Milk and cheese are good for bones)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_7\"><strong>Please remember though, that teaching daily life skills is also an excellent way to keep your child busy and develop important skills such as independence, confidence, and co-ordination. Here&#8217;s a few things your child could do around the house:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_7\">Setting the table for meal times<br \/>\nGetting ready to go outside (shoes and jacket)<br \/>\nGetting dressed by yourself<br \/>\nDress up days &#8211; Use your imagination<br \/>\nHelping wash the dishes<br \/>\nMaking their own bed<br \/>\nTidying up their toys<br \/>\nReading a story to someone in the house<br \/>\nSinging songs together<br \/>\nDance Parties<br \/>\nHelp to put the food shop away<br \/>\nSweeping the floor<br \/>\nBaking cookies\/cakes<br \/>\nHelp make the dinner<br \/>\nSort the washing &#8211; matching socks<br \/>\nHelp looking after any pets you have<br \/>\nNature walks<br \/>\nPlay Eye Spy when outside<br \/>\nWashing the car<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_7\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A child\u2019s first experiences and interactions will shape their early knowledge of themselves and the world around them.
