2. Meet our Team!
(Kathleen Alexander: Early years worker) Kathleen has been working with us since 2006 and she says she cannot believe some of the children she has looked after will be 19 now! She particularly enjoys musical activities as well as being creative both indoors and outdoors. One of her greatest delights is watching the children grow and develop. Kathleen and her husband have three grown up children so they have plenty time to enjoy holidays. They also enjoy spending time with their wider family, getting together for special occasions and days out.(Ashley McCabe: Early years worker) Ashley has been working with us since September 2019 and one part of the job she really enjoys is watching the children grow and develop, from taking their first steps, to learning how to read and write! At the weekend Ashley enjoys spending time with her friends and family, going on walks or watching a film
(Tom Brownlee: Early years worker) Tom has been at RRCN since August 2019 and enjoys reading stories to the children, bringing the book alive by using different voices and involving the children in the story. He loves acting silly with the children, seeing them laugh and have fun whilst in nursery. At home Tom lives with his partner, 3 children, 3 dogs and his tortoise called Sheldon! He loves sports, mainly football, and attends all of his teams football games with his son. Tom also helps coach the 2007s football team at Symington Tinto Football club.(Gillian Totten: Early years worker) Gillian started working at RRCN in May 2016 and she loves her job, especially building strong relationships with the children, watching them grow, learn and achieve so many things. In her spare time, Gillian enjoys spending time wih her husband and daughter, heading off on day trips and going on walks with their family dog Lola.(Amy Bell: Early years worker) Amy started with RRCN in January 2017 and she loves how every day working with children is so different. Amy loves seeing the children happy and engaged at nursery. Amy loves messy play and reading stories to the children. Amy has a little boy who is one year old. At the weekend, Amy likes to spend time with her family, taking her little boy to different places like soft play and going walks with her little boy, partner and dog Myla.(Susan Dobbin: Head) Susan started with us in August 2020 and has worked with WLC and Private nurseries previously. She is a reflective leader, who seeks feedback from all service users to ensure the best possible care is being provided. In her spare time, Susan enjoys the cinema, gigs and road trips around Scotland with her husband, step daughter Ellie and dogs Sheeran & Harris(Caitlin OHanlon: Early years support worker) (Claire McQouney: Peripatetic Early years teacher)(Claire Adair: Early years worker)(Abbie Jayne Smith (AJ): Early years worker) AJ started with us in September 2021 and is currently working through her Early Years qualification as a modern apprentice. AJ has been working hard to learn new skills and develop as a practitioner.(Ellie Smith: Early years worker) Ellie started with us in March 2020 and is currently a modern apprentice, working towards her SVQ 3 in Social Services, Children and young people. Ellie loves taking part in outdoor play, planting flowers and watching them and the children grow and develop. In her spare time, Ellie enjoys spending time with her friends and also volunteers for her local Rainbow and Brownies.(Anna Brownlee: Early years worker) Anna came to RRCN as a modern apprentice in 2018 and became an Early Years practitioner in 2019. Anna is currently at Abington Nursery. Her favourite thing about working here is getting to be creative with the children and watching them grow and develop. At the weekend Anna enjoys taking her dog for long walks and spending time with her friends.(Nicola Gemmell: Early years worker) Nicola has been at RRCN since September 2017 and have been working at Abington since August 2018. In nursery, Nicola loves reading stories in different voices, playing silly soup, singing songs and rhymes and taking part in messy play! At home Nicola lives with her husband and daughter and she likes to read books, bake and go on day trips.(Alison Barr: Early years worker) Alison has been working at Rigside and Rural Communities Nursery since 2007. She has worked across all three of our locations during this time, getting to know lots of different children and their families, but is currently at Black Mount. Alison loves listening and talking to children as they share their stories, interests and experiences about their lives and has a particular interest in outdoor play, especially planting, growing, nature and wildlife, as well as getting wet and muddy! At the weekends Alison likes to be outdoors either in her garden or taking her two cheeky dogs for exciting adventures.(Leah Girdwood: Early years worker) Leah has been part of the Rigside and Rural Communities Nursery team for over 12 years and has vast experience of working with all age groups and within all three nursery establishments. She is currently working at Black Mount. Leah is creative (just check the hair colour) and loves messy play experiences, encouraging the children to get messy and use their senses. During the weekends Leah likes to spend time with her friends, baking and she is well known by her colleagues for finding a bargain!(Kirsty Lumosi: Early years worker) Kiraty has been part of Rigside and Rural Communities nursery since November 2019, where she was based in the 3-5 Room at Rigside. Currently she is based at Black Mount nursery. Kirsty says she doesn’t have one particular area that she likes to work in, but very much enjoys a wide range of areas and enjoys involving the children in their learning through exciting, fun and motivating experiences. Kirsty believes that Early Years education is the foundation to a child’s learning experience and it should be fun and inspirational in order to take that positive impact into their later years. In her spare time Kirsty enjoys spending time with her family and is a well-known Karaoke queen to her friends!!(Ali Bell: Early years worker) Ali started working with us in 2010 and loves watching the wonder and excitement in children’s eyes when they learn or achieve something new. It’s so special to witness!
