Literacy – reading – Picture Perfect
Lily: I liked learning about Picture Perfect because we got to make our own picture frames and decorate them with our parents and it was really fun.
Kaitlyn: I thought the book was quite interesting and I’d never read anything about a family like this.
Arwyn: I liked reading the book because it showed us you don’t always need to be perfect.
Morris: I liked doing Picture Perfect because the illustrations helped us to picture it and to know what its about.
Leo: I liked how in the book we learned that not every family is perfect.
Primary 5 are moving onto reading Fantastic Mr Fox and have begun exploring the novel through reading comprehension, drama and metalinguistics.
Writing – descriptive
Morris: I liked doing descriptive writing because you got to use more adjectives and we got to write about different things not just one big story about one thing.
Caled: I really liked doing descriptive writing on the laptops because I think it was really fun and instead of having Ms Ali help us, the laptop helped us with spelling mistakes.
Kaitlyn: I quite liked learning about the Greek gods and it was quite fun.
Writing – instructional
Halle: I like doing the den-building instructions because everyone’s was different and we got to write them on Chromebooks. I’m excited to do more.
Harley: I like knowing how to set out instructions because it’s a good life-skill if you become a Lego-creator you need to know how to write instructions.
Morris: I like doing instructional writing because we watched a video about how to build a den, but you could do it using another method if you wanted to.
Primary 5 are continuing this writing topic in Term 3 and will be learning to write instructions for activities such as How to Plant a Seed.
Maths – place value, fractions, decimals, percentages, addition, subtraction, dividing, multiplication
Shea: I like that we are learning about percentages and decimals because you can use it in future jobs.
Olivar: I liked doing fractions and addition because its hard and it’s a challenge, especially silver and gold.
Lucy: I found multiplication really fun because its my favourite and its fun to count up in timestables. I found some tricky so I made up my own songs to learn them and it helped me a lot.
Ibrahim: I liked multiplication because I really enjoy doing it, I like the challenge of it.
Elliot: I liked learning more about dividing and other strategies that we can use.
Sophie: I love the fact that we can learn new strategies and when we were stuck we could use them it makes things a lot easier. I like that we can take the resources to help us if we’re stuck too.
Topic – Home and Away (Scotland and Greece)
Harley: I liked when Orpheas came in to give us Greek food to try and it was so good! I really enjoyed the dancing too – it was cool.
Florence: I also loved the dancing because it was hard but also really fun.
Leo: I liked that we got to learn about tartan and make it because everyone’s was different.
Caled: I liked learning about Greek traditional dress because we got to make our own patterns.
Max: I liked learning the differences between Greece and Scotland and how our traditions are different.

Architecture
Halle: I am looking forward to learning about how buildings are built and how old they are.
Lucy: I am really excited to learn Scotland’s main style of buildings because I don’t know much about that.
Jessie: I am looking forward to the topic because I think it’ll be a really interesting topic to learn about.
Walter: I am super excited because I will get to know more about Scotland and the buildings.
Primary 5 will be exploring this topic further this term learning about famous architects that are Scottish or have designed buildings in Scotland.
