Pop Music

Taylor Swift’sLover’

This album was released on the 23rd of August 2019 and has become the biggest selling album of 2019 after just 2 days of being on sale. This is Swift’s seventh debut album featuring hit songs such as ‘You need to calm down’ and ‘Me’ featuring Brendon Urie from Panic! At The Disco. This has become a sensation after just 2 weeks of being released.

Indie Music

Florence + The Machine‘, ‘Lungs’

This album is a bit of an oldie as it recently celebrated the 10th anniversary but Florence + The Machine is still played on our radios. However, ‘with age comes wisdom’, to quote Oscar Wilde, as Florence and the band released the 10th Anniversary edition featuring all our favourite songs such as ‘Shake it out’ and ‘You’ve Got The Love’ but also contains four unreleased demos such as ‘Donkey Kosh’ and ‘My Best Dress’. This album perfectly captured the zeitgeist of the late 00’s. So get your speaker and blare these songs ’cause these are great party tunes.

Blues Music

Hozier’s ‘Wasteland Baby!’

Irish singer song-writer Andrew Hozier Byrne rose to fame back in 2014 with ‘Take Me To Church’ and has released a follow up album Wasteland Baby. Streamed over 2.5 billion times since March of this year the album contains songs such as ‘Nina Cried Power’ (feat Mavis Staples), a song highlighting the importance of protest especially in the Civil Rights movement in America, this song appeared on Barack Obama’s top 100 songs of 2018. The album also contains ‘Almost (Sweet Music)’ and ‘Dinner and Diatribes’. Hozier gives a contemporary twist on traditional blues music. This album is a personal favourite of mine and I love this new album, i definitely recommend you listen to this album.

Jazz Music

Ezra Collection’s ‘You Can’t Steal My Joy’

This group are split between traditional jazz music but also bring a modern take various other types of music such as hip-hop music. This group has collaborated with a couple of famous faces such as Jorja Smith and Loyle Carner. This album has songs such as ‘Reasons in Disguise’ (feat Jorja Smith) and ‘Chris and Jane’. These are songs to wind down with after a hard day at school.
