THE TEENAGE CANCER TRUST IS A CHARITY IN THE UK TO IMPROVE THE CANCER EXPERIENCE OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND WAS FOUNDED IN 1990.

The Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity in the UK to improve the cancer experience of young people and was founded in 1990.  Around seven young people aged 13 to 24 are diagnosed with cancer everyday.  The charity’s key service is providing specialist teenage units in NHS Hospitals, they have helped save over 1 million lives with a remarkable percentage of saving 80% males and 87% females.  They have many hospitals in Scotland located in major cities and towns, one being the Tommy Burns Skin Cancer Clinic in Glasgow, another being Lanarkshire Council Care including many more throughout the UK. Teenage Cancer Trust is also able to train staff to provide life changing care and support to young people so they do not need to face cancer alone.

Fundraising

The charity needs a lot of money to be able to provide this specialist service to the teenagers. This is done by receiving donations from community and corporate fundraising, income from trading and income from charitable activities. This includes buying tickets for events, raffles, or people buying Teenage Cancer Trust T-shirts etc. Last year in 2018 it was the charity’s 18th anniversary and they were very fortunate to be able to host a magnificent concert in The Royal Albert Hall in London, The Trust were lucky enough to have guests like UB40, Kasabian, Russell Howard and many others perform.  It is very important for the Teenage Cancer Trust to receive these donations to be able to run all the facilities they provide to the young people. In the financial year 2016-2017 the charity were pleased to announce that they had raised a staggering £16million to help young people who have to face cancer.
