A man has appeared in court over the death of a motorcyclist in a crash.

Allan Nicholson, 24, was involved in a collision on the northbound carriageway of the A725 East Kilbride expressway at around 6.45am on Saturday 10th November.

Emergency services arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.

34-year-old William McLean, the driver of the car which collided with Allan’s motorbike, was treated for minor injuries at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride.

McLean appeared at the Hamilton Sheriff Court – he was charged with road traffic offences, which cover being unfit to drive due to intoxication, and death by dangerous driving.

He made no plea and was released on bail to reappear at a later date.
