Everything, Everything was written by  Nicola Yoon and is about a young girl who suffers from a disease which prevents her from going outside.

When Madeline Whittier was a baby, she suffered a continuous  series of illnesses.  Eventually, she was diagnosed with severe combined immunodeficiency, which means she is allergic to the world.

She has no friends and only her Mother and  Carla (her nurse) and a text relationship with Carla’s daughter Rosa.  Madeline Whiter has a bubble life.

Until, the new neighbours move in next door and a particularly interesting boy catches her eye through the window of her home.

Olly (the boy next door) wants to meet this mysterious girl who he has never seen step outside the comfort of her home. Without knowing this is not her choice but a need for her safety.

Will they find a way to meet each other and become friends?  Will Olly’s secrets compromise that?  And will Maddy’s mother find a way to break them apart?

The book and the movie are very different even though they have the same story line.

Olly is meant to be very energetic but in the movie, it’s Maddy who does the handstands and ignites the special moments.

These differences are pointless in our opinion as the book would have been perfect as a movie if they kept it the same.

Movie: 3.5/5

Book: 5/5
