Senior pupils undertook the strenuous Maths Challenge on Tuesday the 7th of November.

With just 90 minutes to complete 24 multiple choice questions; it is definitely a tense situation to complete the questions.  Ranging from angles to prime numbers the challenge truly tests our inner Pythagoras.

Results  are not published till after a while; however there are threshold marks for Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards. The top  scoring 1000 pupils attend the first round of the British Mathematical Olympiad and around 6000 are invited to the Senior Kangaroo.

The Maths Challenge Trust hopes the experience is both stimulating and rewarding – encouraging children to think mathematically.

So why don’t you have a go at one of this years questions?

(The Answer is on the bottom of the article)

——————————————————————————————————The five integers 2, 5, 6, 9, 14 are arranged into a different order. In the new arrangement, the sum of the first three integers is equal to the sum of the last three integers. What is the middle number in the new arrangement?

A 2             B5            C6              D9              E14——————————————————————————————————

Don’t  worry, it took me a while to just figure out what integer meant.

Teachers and pupils  are eagerly waiting for results, but come rain or shine, it is a great attainment to show off on your Personal Statement – something which definitely will make you stand out.
