St Andrew’s and St Bride’s pupils yet again set out to complete the renowned challenge of Micro-Tyco with teams consisting of  first years mentored by sixth years and a Deloitte team consisting of senior pupils aiming to apply for work experience through this challenge.

From teamwork to leadership to communication, the pupils step into unfamiliar territory in attempt to raise as much money as possible from the small loan of just £1.

For the past  few years the high school has won this challenge and they succeed in the challenge through various events such as –

  • Guess the name of the teddy bear
  • A raffle
  • Classroom Door signs
  • Sponge the teachers
  • Tuck shops
  • A schools own ‘Bake-Off’ challenge  and many more.

Here is a glimpse of last years winners and their activities  :

Without a doubt, this is a great opportunity for children to help in ways you would never think about. As said by Micro-Tyco itself :

“Micro-Tyco nurtures and validates our children’s talents and empowers them to aspire to values that will ennoble them.”

The challenge’s purpose is to raise money for the Micro Loan Programme from Wild Hearts Foundation. From a  workshop in Glasgow’s Royal Exchange Square, the Deloitte work experience team learnt about all the women they have helped through participating in this wonderful challenge. Funds created are invested into ‘micro loans’ for budding entrepreneurs in the developing world which can kickstart their careers and help them lead brighter, happier lives.

Throughout the month of November, our teams will be fundraising in numerous ways from their seed capital of just £1 and you can make a difference by paying the small fee for the service or item they are providing. In doing this, you’ll be providing a better future for someone less fortunate than yourself. Good luck to all teams involved!
