You’ve gone from ruling the school to being the babies again; we’ve all been there, or going to be there. As you would probably know, it’s been a couple of weeks since school has started again and for some of the younger pupils, their first day of high school. We’re going to tell you a few things about our first week at high school.

Firstly, we are loving the new subjects like home economics and modern studies. But we still like the new perspectives from the lovely new teachers of the subjects that we have already studied previously in primary school. Once again we would like to mention the great teachers and how supportive they have been for us during this important transition. We have also enjoyed the independence we have liked being able to move from class to class and the added sense of maturity. In addition to all of these exciting things about our new school, there is also a great variety of extra-curricular activities like the newspaper (which you can obviously see we have joined), netball, football, athletics, debating and these are just a few of the many fantastic clubs we have available to join. We are also very excited for all the trips and experiences that St Andrew’s and St Bride’s has to offer us.

One of the things we are not so keen on are the hallways. But we don’t mean the actual hallways we just mean how busy they get when the bell rings. Now we know that for all those who attend St Andrew’s and St Bride’s it will be second nature to go to your classes without getting trampled but for some new first years it’s quite intimidating. Another thing we aren’t used to yet is the way to our classes, because the building is so much bigger than our old school. One class could be upstairs, downstairs or even on the other side of the building. But we hope that we can get used to these changes and enjoy our high school experience as much as possible.

Even though there are still things that we need to get use to our first week has been great. We have enjoyed our high school experience so much and even if we are missing our primary school just a little, we can’t wait to see what else St Andrews and St Brides has instore for us.
