On the 21st of April 2016, the music industry lost one of its most iconic figures to ever have walked the earth, Prince. At the age of 57 the singer passed away in his Minnesota home, however nothing has yet to be confirmed about the cause of death, there has been many speculations that he was suffering from an illness just weeks beforehand.
While Prince had many famous songs, his biggest hit was most certainly Purple Rain which was in actual fact written for the movie Purple Rain and which Prince himself starred in as The Kid who with the power of music finds a way out of a difficult situation.
The movie Purple Rain was developed to showcase his talents and to possibly extend his music career. The film then went on to win an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score which dramatically helped Prince with his music.
