Friday the 18th of December – Christmas Jumper Day 2015. The event first took place when Save the Children set up the campaign in 2012. With this campaign, they are hoping that people across the UK will help to “make the world better with a sweater”.

Although it was Save the Children that initiated the campaign three years ago, many people are supporting other charities by making a donation and wearing their festive jumper to work or school. Our school is supporting SAMH by encouraging pupils to wear their Christmas jumper and donate £1 to the charity. If everyone contributes this small donation, St Andrew’s and St Bride’s will raise over £1000 for The Scottish Association for Mental Health. Pupils will also be allowed to wear non-uniform on this day.

Celebrities are even getting involved.  ITV stars Amanda Holden, Olly Murs, Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, Stephen Mulhern, Alesha Dixon and Paddy McGuinness are all joining in with the festivities as ITV team up with Save the Children this year.

It’s really easy to get involved. Wear a festive jumper you have bought decorated or maybe even knitted and help SAMH to help our country raise awareness for mental health.
