Looks like we will finally be able to return to the picture perfect town of Stars Hollow because Gilmore Girls is finally back!

It has been a long eight years since Gilmore Girls vanished from our screens (unless you are like us and watch the boxset on repeat). However, it will finally be coming back! And by “coming back,” we don’t mean syndication, as Netflix has just closed a deal with Warner Bros. to bring Gilmore Girls back for four glorious 90-minute special episodes, which means we will be able to watch yet another awkward Friday Night Dinner. All of our favourite characters- the Gilmore Girls themselves Lorelai and Rory, Emily Gilmore and Luke Danes- are said to returning. The episodes are rumoured to run the course of a calendar year, with each of the four 90-minute episodes taking place during each season. That means there are opportunities for more snowman building, spring flings, winter carnivals, and just about every seasonal small-town extravaganza town Selectman Taylor could dream of.

It seems like Sherman-Palladino was even hinting at this revival when she reunited with the famous cast at the hilarious ATX TV Festival this past summer. She said of an inevitable resurrection, “It would have to be the right everything — the right format, the right timing,” “If it ever happened, I promise we’ll do it correctly.” Clearly, this means that Rory and Jess will end up together (or at least we both hope). It will also be a wonderful way to pay homage to the recently deceased Edward Herrmann who played the much-loved Richard Gilmore.

Additionally, we will hear more witty one liners from Television’s favourite ‘mom’; undoubtedly once again overflowing with wisdom and quips. Fans are also hoping to see a satisfying ending to the Luke/Lorelai romance as well as discovering if Rory finally achieved her dream of working for The New York Times. And will those final four words be revealed? We have so many questions we can’t wait to be answered and although it is still very early days we know for sure that when they return the famous quote from Lorelai and Rory: “you’ll laugh, you’ll cry. –Because you’re laughing so hard.– It’ll be an evening to remember” will thoroughly be the case.
