The refugee crisis traumatising Europe is putting the Conservative government into a sticky situation, and may even result in Britain leaving the EU altogether.

Last week, David Cameron, under pressure, announced that Britain will offer refuge to more Syrian refugees, after the recent photo of the body of a drowned three-year-old Syrian boy was made viral worldwide.

Cameron has said that he will allow the entrance of 20,000 Syrian refugees into Britain. This is, no doubt, an effort to help resolve the crisis, second only to Germany, taking in 35,000 refugees.

However, Cameron has now been put in a lose/lose situation. There are those who are scared at the prospect of more migration and will see this as the EU par, being forced to take more migrants in. Or those who sympathise with the refugees will see it as not enough.

So, how this situation ends up is essentially out of Cameron’s hands and at every point he faces alienating voters and Conservative party members.
